@losttourist@social.chatty.monster Agree he's weak. But this article is about how easy it would be to bring Britain to its knees. We need better drone defences. But there needs to be more cost to Russia for what it's doing. We came close to an attack on German soil recently that would have killed people.

Reading an article about the UK's lack of resilience. We have 131 distribution centres vulnerable to Russian drone strikes. What on earth is our nuclear deterrent meant to deter? "It's ok Vlad, as long as you stick to destroying the food and energy distribution network, we'll not be opening the suitcase".

An important story I think. Banks will become increasingly wary about lending to fossil fuel producers. The BoE here telling lenders that loans to coal producers are less likely to be repaid because technology could wipe those firms out. #NetZero #ClimateCrisishttps://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jul/19/bank-of-england-bonds-coal-loans-assets

I think Andy Burnham should build a high speed rail line between Manchester and London to make it easier to move to where the culture and jobs are.

Made the train. No running involved. Getting a bit peckish. But as followers of this account will know, I'm pretty good at lunching.

The Night Aways Comes by Willy Vlautin gets the job done in 224 pages. There's a lot out there about fucked-up rich American families (Patchett, Tyler etc) but Vlautin writes well about those who are poor and fucked-up. Quite a lot happens. Perhaps too much. But I'm a fanboy. @bookstodon@fedigroups.social #bookstodon #KeefsReads

As on every #BandcampFriday my credit card company has made an intervention. Big commerce doesn't want me to own a 51 minute mediation on monoculture.

Feel Noah Thain illustrates why the #MetroBankOneDayCup is important. He bats down the order when he gets a go in the Championship. Asked to open here in a younger team he has the chance to build an innings. Two hundreds this week. One to watch. #cricket

OK. Calm has prevailed thanks to a man called Keith and a crack team of northern jazzers. This one goes onto the #BandcampFriday list. #jazz @jazz@fedigroups.socialhttps://discusmusic.bandcamp.com/album/outside-213cd-2026

Hang on. I bought this album yesterday on #BandcampFriday. Listened to it as I made breakfast, then opened the paper to find it's music from a five-star reviewed play in the West End. This is my catnip. #PhilipGlass #ClassicalMusic @classicalmusic@fedigroups.socialhttps://philipglass.bandcamp.com/album/tao-of-glass

@snaprails@cupoftea.social I mean we did well on the garlic, broad beans and spuds. And I love cucumber. It's mainly the courgettes that disappointed.

I had a filling earlier. Just bit on a chocolate digestive. Not 100% sure if I still have a filling. Is this likely? I was told it was set.

CoPilot has the memory of a sieve. It's better than doing it myself. But it keeps regressing. It's all two steps forward and one back.
