It seems like a lot of folks are assuming that the pricing of LLM subscriptions is about to skyrocket, but I've been hearing that for months and think it's unlikely. The economics may be out of whack (they definitely are), but these companies are under so much competitive pressure that I think it's far more likely that they'll implode than raise prices significantly.

For the past month, I've been testing the Logitech Mobi Fold travel mouse. It's an excellent little travel companion with checking out for your on-the-go kit. My review on MacStories: https://www.macstories.net/reviews/a-month-with-logitechs-innovative-mobi-fold-travel-mouse/

A Month with Logitech’s Innovative Mobi Fold Travel Mouse

I can't recall the last time I was truly excited about a mouse. I primarily use a trackpad whether I'm at my desk or using a laptop. The trouble with a trackpad-only setup, though, is that I sometimes wind up with wrist and elbow pain. That’s why I keep a Logitech MX Master 4 mouse

Federico doesn't do anything half way - in a good way - and Shortcuts Playground is a great example.

When it became clear that coding agents had become capable enough to generate shortcuts, @viticci@mastodon.macstories.net got to work.

The trick was distilling more than a decade of Shortcuts knowledge into a plugin for Codex and Claude Code.

It took months of painstaking work, but the results are totally worth it: shortcuts built from natural language prompts.

If you're a developer with an app to promote, MacStories' WWDC-week sponsorships are back!

We break our coverage into multiple spots at a range of prices: sponsor posts, callouts in OS and Apple Intelligence overviews, AppStories spots, and news-item callouts.

There's something to match any budget.

Spots filled fast last year and are already filling this year.

This week for @club@mastodon.macstories.net, I wrote about how the cost/benefit calculus analysis of automation has fundamentally changed with coding agents and why that requires a new way of thinking about automation in general.

Also, we have a special perk from the dictation app Monologue and a lot of new app coverage.

RE: https://mastodon.macstories.net/@johnvoorhees/116561776163621043

You may be wondering, "Why would I check my email from the Terminal?"

That's not what this is about. With Spark's CLI and Claude Code, I set up an automation to find package tracking numbers in my email.

That then automatically adds deliveries to a package tracking app, which hooks into an existing system I built that sends me a text via iMessage when a package's status changes.

What it's about is hybrid automation.

In the early days of the iPhone, there was an explosion of innovative text editors. Plain text formatted using Markdown ruled the day, driven at least in part by how rudimentary the iPhoneOS SDK was. @buffaloseven@mstdn.ca The economic theory behind bankruptcies is that they an efficient way to redeploy capital, which saves jobs and keeps assets in the economy working productively. The reality is that frontier labs are big enough and important enough that if one collapses there might be a government bailout, which is would be paid for by taxpayers ultimaitely.
