My dad just bought a new car and he told me the reason was “all the new safety features” like back up cameras and blind spot monitors. I’m skeptical these features actually make car driving measurably safer. Anybody have stats or articles on this topic?

This world is insane
Going through a real tough time right now. My partner has been in and out of the hospital. I’m trying to support her and take care of my kid and keep myself from crumbling into dust. It’s not so easy for me to talk to actual humans about it because I am immediately flooded with emotion which is not comfortable for me. My go to reactions are to pretend everything is fine when I’m around others and dwell privately. This is a negative and destructive pattern of mine, but it’s hard to push myself out of that pattern when I’m exhausted and suffering and scared.

I got this new phone case that has low-profile video game controls on the bottom half, and you can flip it around to play on an emulator and have tactile controls. Not sure about the quality so far, but makes a lot of games that aren’t playable with touchscreen workable. Was just playing Pilotwings for SNES.

I have a question about “terrorism” - if someone attacks a military base, my understanding is that is not terrorism because terrorism specifically means targeting civilians. It seems like the way the term is used is often just like “person on the other side of the conflict”.
So if our government is going to live stream an execution, I’d be very interested to see which companies would end up agreeing to provide the infrastructure for that stream and how they would try to justify it. I’d like to think that would be so wildly toxic to be in any way associated with that nobody would be willing.

Picked up some used books at Dog Ears Books in Northport, MI
Going on a trip with my 5yo so I’m downloading some of his fave tv shows to the tablet (Magic School Bus). Realized the default is for these episodes to be deleted once watched, which, nooo, this is such a bad default for kids shows. I’ve been offline before and my kid wants to watch the show over and over again and the app just *poof* deleted it, to my horror.
