Studenten Net @utwente@social.edu.nl celebrates 30 years! It brought 10Mbps Internet to each room on campus in 1994, 100Mbps in 1998. Here I learned Internet policy as vice-chair. This weekend they host an IPv6 ping event with 40Gbps! https://pings.utwente.io #RIPE89 #NLNOG #Nanog

Australia shuts down 3G and blocks 'foreign' 4G phones. On Reddit, Whirlpool and the Australian Parliament commentators claim it is not a big deal, everyone is doing it and Australian VoLTE is special. So for posterity, some context and how to do better #3gshutdown 2G and 3G were standardised in Europe. Phones were only allowed on the market if they passed the ETSI compatibility tests for GSM and UMTS. The standards worked so well that testers told me that they were happy when a bug was found!
