Zorro Ranch There are uncorroborated claims by a former ranch employee that the compound was used for child sex trafficking and that bodies were disposed of on the property. But Trump’s FBI has the case so we’ll probably never know for sure. But whatever happened there it’s prompted the state of New Mexico to tighten their sex crime laws, statutes, and limitations.

Woefully inaccurate, the entire P2P file sharing craze kicked off by Napster all went down before 2007 and there were plenty of online piracy venues before then too like IRC. And I was torrenting movies right alongside my Netflix DVD rentals. Piracy has always been here and has never left.

Just license them in accordance with their capabilities. All the bad press about ebikes lately is running cover for government negligence over lack of normalizing them into existing licensing frameworks, on behalf of the automotive lobby that knows if these vehicles aren't given an appropriate legal niche they will instead end up being seen by society as dangerous scofflaws and ultimately banned or legistalted out of practicality. Use your brains. Ask why the discussion doesn't revolve around appropriate licensure and infrastructure, and instead revolves around how to get rid of them.

Proprietary OTP / RFA auth apps that won’t run on my phone’s Android version. Hue smart lighting bullshit that won’t run on my phone’s Android version. That’s it so far. But it’s been a lot nicer than Android Studio’s emulator breaking every time my Arch install falls more than a week out of date.

I'm a cyclist and I'm against this. If they're effectively electric motorcycles then just license them as motorcycles, end of story. People are getting brain fog over the fact that they're cheap and popular with kids. We don't speed cap any other vehicles, we just license them appropriately. Let's just continue doing that. It's wacky to me that this isn't obvious to most people.

Hasan Derangement Syndrome. It's not just the consultant class that's to blame, the DNC is just as infested by corporate interest and PACs as the Republicans. The average Democrat rep's platform *does not* align with the average Democratic voter's priorities. Hasn't for a long time.

Cars can go even faster and actually do kill thousands of people, but god fucking forbid we talk about slowing those down because we're so normalized to their violence that we're blind to it. I agree with the person you replied to, this is monumentally stupid. Give micromobility their own infrastructure, repurpose space currently given to cars. We've gotta stop pearl-clutching over sustainable progress.

Cox Media Group got kicked off Google's ad partner program a few years ago when 404 Media scooped that they had a feature called CMG Active Listening which did exactly this. They had a slide deck. Audio spying by advertisers is like doping in pro sports, everybody does it and you only get caught if you're stupid. Remember back in 2013 a whistleblowing NSA contractor told us to put our phones in the fridge if we wanted to have a secret conversation? He had a slide deck, too. The western world is run by a cult of pedophiles, the fact that our phones listen in on us without our consent is not a stretch.

She repeatedly states in her videos that she's a liberal and then people get angry at her for being a fake leftist. I don't agree with a small segment of her opinions, but it's not as if she isn't honest with her audience. I wish literally any other liberal had her level of ideological clarity.

To tack on to Velma's answer below about why you were insta-downvoted, your question is the sort that can be answered much quicker and more comprehensively by just doing a google search instead of asking a small crowd of strangers in a comment thread to essentially be your research committee, a fact considered so readily intuitive that to opt for the latter anyway is to almost certainly appear as disingenuous to said crowd. If they can all find this info so easily, certainly you can too.

FYI 45 kph on a non-motorized bicycle is not really "freakishly fast", that's a normal downhill speed on your average middle age guy's weekend workout. And I think this concern is already addressed by signed speed limits.

And just like the first image, many of the words in second image are rarely if ever used by the generation being stereotyped and are more often used by older generations to do the stereotyping, inventing a largely imagined culture for the generation they're completely out of touch with.

Yeah cross-state county annexation fantasies happen anywhere that a blue state borders a red state. They'd never happen, not only would the donor state have to willingly give up perfectly good land and taxpayers and the recipient state accept, the federal government would have to approve the change.

I like FSS, in fact I attended a few rallies of the original New York chapter, but I actually think that bill is too soft. I'd rather we get serious about straight-up revoking the privledges of people who demonstrate they can't be trusted to safely wield them. This opinion isn't limited to vehicles.

The spirit of my complaint is that we should just appropriately license them. If practically that means a new class of license then yes, that's how you license them.

You know, I actually don't think hypocrisy is sin, or even a moral failing. We all do it, and it's almost always symptomatic or indicative of *other* deeds we feel guilty of. It's always better to not be a hypocrite because it's a more honest assessment of what is happening and why, but in both of those examples there were very real moral injuries or sins to address before the hypocrisy that obscures them. I think we confuse the "gotcha" nature of calling out hypocrisy with the actual sin we are deobfuscating by calling it out.

It’s a boomer world, you are just living in it.

But finally, they're dying in it. Today the youngest boomers are 62 and the oldest are 80. Over the next two decades we will watch as their numbers finally wane, and hopefully with it the monopolizing stranglehold they have over society.

Especially funny because while there are other things vegetarians will eat that vegans won’t (Other dairy, eggs), cheese is actually physically addictive because the same protein that makes it curdle breaks down through digestion into a substance that acts like dopamine. It really is the “one ring” of veganism and often the last / hardest thing to give up when one goes vegan.
