This isn’t news to anyone that’s paid attention over the years. Nearly every game that had Denuvo and removed it sees a measurable performance bump. Way more than what general optimizations would do, despite what the developer/publisher and the online propaganda repeaters always claim.

And yet even at 2-3x the price, the Chinese EVs provide a better value than the handful of the American options they would compete against. This SUV would be competing with the likes of a high end EV option like Lucid or Tesla. The Lucid Gravity starts a around $70k, and the Tesla Model X (now discontinued) was around $92k. The Xiaomi SU7 (the car the Ford CEO has driven since 2024, despite being banned in the US) starts at $32k and clearly is targeted to compete the Porsche Taycan at $112k. The vehicle in this article has heated floors, a projector, a pop-up roof, a fridge, swiveling seats, and over 1,000 miles of range. Functions western companies consider “luxury” are basically just standard in the Chinese market like heated and ventilated seats. They don’t even bother to advertise things like that because it’s a minimum expectation. There are zero western options that come close to something like that. The options available in the US suck, even taking industry subsidies into account.

Because not having a DRM solution makes shareholders nervous. So a pointless system that actively makes the game worse, is a positive still.

I’ve done some very long road journeys, 900+ km in a day, and having an EV would likely have added at least an hour to that day, even more if I was towing. You do realize that 99.999% of people don’t drive anything like that on a regular basis right? As someone who’s had an EV exclusively since 2018, several makes and models, and not near a massive metro area like NYC, LA, etc. where infrastructure has been extremely built out for a long time. I’ve made long trips, and the total time difference across an entire day of driving, accounting for stops for meals, bathrooms, etc. that would have happened anyway with an ICE vehicle, the trips were maybe total an hour and a half longer spread across that day. Does it take more time on long distance trips? Yes. Does it actually matter when those long trips are usually going to be entire day or even multi-day trips anyway? Not really. I’ve found non-EV owners usually still think of charging the car like filling it with gas, full every time with all the time it takes to fully charge. But you almost never fully charge the vehicle while on a trip, only at the beginning and maybe end. The batteries charge significantly faster when at a lower state of charge, so most travel happens in the middle between 20-70%. It’s faster to charge twice for 15 minutes at a fast rate, than taking an hour or more to fully charge each time. And the built-in navigation and charging systems take that into account along your route to optimize those stops to take advantage of those higher charging speeds. I also have noticed that non-EV owners significantly underestimate the amount of time they take when stopping to get gas, use the restroom, etc. The real world time difference between those quick charges where you can let the car sit unattended while you use the restroom, grab snacks, etc. versus having to stand at the pump and then do those things, is much closer than most people tend to think.

Buying collectors coins direct from the mint always costs more than face value. That’s nothing new or special. The mint violating the law to mint this as legal tender (since they claim they’ll be in circulation too) is the actual story.

So you now can be absolutely certain that Netgear is actively and openly giving fascist authoritarians what they want. At least before you could be fairly certain it was just the secretive three letter guys that *roughly* knew what they were doing at least. Now it's even the blatant dumb fucks in charge.

They were already doing that. Every advertising company already monitors you whenever possible to determine things like your age to target ads as effectively as possible. If a isn't relying on a third party for advertising like Google AdSense, and they're handling it internally, they definitely know that info.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the model… My first thought was that she was trans. Because the dipshits run into that all the time. They make no effort to actually understand anything and just live off vibes and beliefs with no factual basis whatsoever. Not doing a basic Google search to look up the model and verify before posting like an idiot is par for the course.

Of course they do. Apple Intelligence.

But even more broadly you can assume Apple is working on it if:

  1. It is in any way tech-related.
  2. It has the possibility of marketing existing technology as "magical" and easy to use.

I was thinking along the lines of wondering why a single player game would need anti-cheat. Required online check-ins and similar were a thing before Denuvo came on the scene, so I didn’t even consider that aspect. Especially since the online portion of Denuvo is secondary to the encryption crap.

You assume they have a problem throwing someone under the bus for no reason. He’s just not useful anymore, no use means no protection. Especially since they can now use him as a data point to “prove” they’re deporting everyone here illegally, even supporters. Just like how fascist outlets like Fox News occasionally have small segments that are accurate or against the narrative, just to point to as some sort of proof that they’re not pure fascist propaganda. Probably didn’t help he actually did overstay his visa, and did not appear in court as required so he did have an existing deportation order… and also somehow angered Laura Loomer who is one of Trump’s current “advisors”. Seems rather similar to the adage about not committing more than one crime at a time. Ironically, his deportation is actually a completely accurate and legitimate one with the system working exactly as it should.

To ICE he’s just another easy statistic. No one else actually cares about the dirtbag, they got rid of him quickly just so they don’t have to deal with him anymore here instead. He’s easily replaceable and he’s already shown he can be a pain in the ass. Get him out of the country, and he can be forgotten.

While US beef production is geared towards steaks and ground chuck, most other countries focus on growing lean beef. The almost certainly low quality meat being imported (countries aren’t going to export their good stuff to Donnie), likely isn’t even going to end up in your local grocery stores as steaks or ground beef. It will be used in other areas of industry with massive orders. Think filler for frozen dinner meatballs, etc. where the raw quality isn’t a priority. Where the lower quality stuff already goes.

It’s almost like there’s only two ways to actually accomplish this type of thing. You can do the same basic thing but use different names to differentiate where/how that function is used. Lock it and require the passcode where the decryption key is still in memory because the system is running, or shutdown/restart the device so the decryption key isn’t in memory anymore. What would a third option even look like?

On Graphene, Lockdown mode disables biometric login until you unlock it manually with your passcode, but the device is still in the less secure AFU (After First Unlock) state. You can also set it to restart the device if not used within a set time period. Various settings from 10 minutes to 72 hours. So if you haven’t touched your device within that time period, it will shutdown and restart, going back to the more secure BFU (Before First Unlock) state.

In the US, if cops get into a phone before a warrant, even if a warrant is issued later, all evidence from the phone is suppressed as illegally obtained. This is not a hard and fast rule. There is the concept of Inevitable Discovery. If they find evidence during an illegal entry, they may later seize it lawfully under a search warrant and prosecutors may use it in court if they can supply an independent source, rather than benefit from the earlier violation. Real world example: In Nix v. Williams, decided in 1984, the Supreme Court considered evidence of a child’s body found after police obtained incriminating statements from Williams. Those statements were later determined to have been illegally obtained and were excluded. However, the body was located in the existing search area and the same type of location (a culvert) they were searching. It was simply in a search quadrant they had not gotten to yet. So the searchers would likely have found the body anyway even without those statements.

There are of course exceptions since there’s over a dozen Android manufacturers trying to differentiate themselves. But the default Android behavior used by most of them was changed to match Apple back in 2021 with Android 12. https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/05/19/long-pressing-the-power-button-will-activate-google-assistant-in-android-12/

Lockdown mode disables biometrics while still leaving your device on, say if you know you’re going to talk to the police and don’t want to be forced to provide biometrics to unlock the device. And you can setup an automatic reboot after a set time period where it would return to a BFU state automatically.
