@M0CUV@mastodon.radio our’s just worked out of the box to create flawless prints…I think the point is they really need no tuning at all!

@M0CUV@mastodon.radio I have to admit I would struggle to go for anything that isn’t from Bambu Labs…despite their shenanigans.

@relistan @n8dmt really nice job👍 I’ll have to have a go at printing some of these to try!

@relistan @n8dmt will do👍 I’ve got to find my stock of variable caps first😂. I have a few big transmitting caps lurking somewhere (like these https://www.mainline-group.com/collections/5720-tx5-high-power-airspaced-variable-capacitor-by-jackson-brothers) … I’ll have a think about how the design could work for a bigger variable cap. Last time I played with gears I used a relatively hefty microstepping stepper motor and one of the Jackson Bros gears, to drive a large TX5 variable - worked really well!

@n8dmt @relistan ooh…nice! I have an older Chameleon loop too - I’ll have to take a look inside! When I find the gears i’ll take a better set of photos…one of the retirement jobs lined up by my wife us to tidy all my radio ‘junk’ up🤣😂

@relistan @n8dmt sounds really interesting! Somewhere in the junk box I’ve got a bunch of Jackson reduction drives that I’ve used before to drive a large Jackson Bros TX variable cap…worked a treat!

@dtl@8bitorbust.info I’m deliberately trying to avoid my wife’s similar conclusions when I go play with mobile antennas…🙄

@JoshMurray@mastodon.social love our Minirig speakers…fab portable audio

@marsik@witter.cz @oz1lqo@techhub.social I think some countries have recently re-thought their mothballing of broadcasting facilities…and I am really surprised the BBC made the decision to close R4 LF down…but I guess not🫤

@oz1lqo@techhub.social I still can’t believe they will close 198kHz down soon😭 I often still listen on a small pocket radio or at home on one of the bigger rigs. Plenty of fun to be had decoding the embedded psk data too

@tiraniddo@infosec.exchange @mossmann@mastodon.social @vk6flab@mastodon.radio it’s whisky, surely! Can’t believe the spelling with an ‘e’ is correct!!😖

@relistan @n8dmt so the same anti-backlash mechanism is demonstrated in these gears I think…https://youtu.be/7XxFrbyEJBM?si=vGENJbdEcUV4F1kL

@relistan @n8dmt At least I found a picture of the gears (along with a small variable cap & couplers). Gives a rough size scale

@concretedog I’m so impressed you carry an Aeropress kit with you! I’ve been seriously considering a pocket espresso machine…but haven’t quite convinced myself yet!

@AG7GM I know of at least one local amateur with a DXE NCC2 and two active loops (based on LZ1AQ amps) connected to it…seems to work well for him (https://x.com/rfconsultantuk/status/1923387263276261817?s=46&t=F7aJpT3hQnA59qZz8khb2A)

@M0YNG@mastodon.radio 🎉🎉🎉 That’s such an awesome achievement! Well done. Validation of your setup completed!

@fsphil@mastodon.social @revk@toot.me.uk Also me soldering little surface mount parts

@DFFSoundSystem@ravenation.club @ian@mastodon.radio I’m sure there are Wimpy’s still offering recovery services too

@oz1lqo@techhub.social DAB is really hit and miss here (especially in the car); FM’s coverage has never been perfect across quite large areas of the UK…but it really feels that’s what they are pushing us towards. I guess they are convinced it’s progress…but I’m not so sure 🤔

@revk@toot.me.uk @fsphil@mastodon.social my eyesight has aged sufficiently that they are an essential for surface mount work for me too now
