@libreoffice@fosstodon.org Might be on me, because I've only been following the broad strokes of all the current office software beef, but this article is barely comprehensible to me.

@ErikUden I mean, look at how much hate Ms Rachel, argueably the closest equivalent to Mr Rogers we have today, is getting from a decent chunk of the right. So I feel like we're way past the point where good deeds guarantee a universally good public reception unfortunately and even obviously good people need to be defended.

@zkat Big tech AI might be the closest equivalent to the One Ring we have in real life. For the big tech AI overlords it has the potential to be a surpremely powerful tool to remake the world order in their favour. For the average person it's just marginally useful and ultimately corrupting, but the thrill of power seems to be too much for many people to resist.

@Weirdaholic @fae2535 I think if you're using an Android fork you're already locked out from the get-go?

@Bundesregierung@social.bund.de Buuuuu!

@nihilistic_capybara @zkat @jokeyrhyme It's not really a strawman though, at best it's a an oversimplification that leaves out the edge cases and clear minority of AI users who try to pick models that are as ethical as possible. You can definitely argue that that's unfair and the post is brushibg over some nuances, but a strawman this does not make.

@db0 @rimu "What is it about dbzer0 that makes them such prolific banners? " How is asking a question "telling lies"? He was explicitly being open ended about it and didn't draw any actual conclusions. So you treating it as an attack seems like more of a you thing?

@urlyman @sfb @ErikUden We might genuinely not know in this instance. Because it could have been either Israel or the US.

@rockerest@social.rdl.ph It's also poorly worded "When this fact was brought to the attention of the Board of Directors by the foundation’s legal counsels, the companies that had benefited from these errors sought to maintain the status quo rather than finding a solution. At the time – from the end of 2021 to the middle of 2022 – this could have been achieved swiftly and with minimal difficulty." I assume "this" is fixing the legal issues, but there's a whole sentence between "this" and what it refers to.

@Bundesregierung@social.bund.de Ihr Doofis!

@quoidian@mastodon.online @Dragon@toast.dragon2611.net @stux@mstdn.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu That seems pretty ableist?

@Dragon@toast.dragon2611.net @stux@mstdn.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu "imagine getting parents to you know parent propely" How would one actually go about that though?

@AvonVilla @Tubemeister @inthehands Yeah, I wasn't really trying to make a claim about popularity - some of these "sub"branches might very well be mainstream - but was talking more concept-wise. The broadest and often commonly shared claims of theists are kinda hard to even find an empirical frame/evidence/non-evidence for, while many of the more specific claims like the things you mentioned can of course be disproven fairly easily.

@txtx @hollowone No, you don't need to buy from US companies or respect the US' commercial interest. But you also don't need to act like every person setting up a company in the US is some weird automaton that can't do anything else than push the gov's or capital's line.

@dansup "We aim to be the first Fediverse app with a billion people" I'm supportive of the effort, but this is a bit cringe.

@nevarro@mastodon.social @Gargron@mastodon.social I don't think it's entirely certain/predictable which direction Bluesky will go. But that uncertainty alone is reason enough to support a platform that got the foundations right from the get-go imo.

@MrLovenstein@mastodon.social So true

@Grail @alzjim Always funny to me how most people who are strongly claiming AI is/might be conscious are also strong AI users/involved in its development. If there's consciousness there, you would think making AI your personal slave and constantly reshaping and remodelling it as you see fit would be kinda problematic, but these people always seem to want to have it both ways.

@w_wobble @bubi352 @alpacamale @endolexi @afelia Nein.

@txtx Ok? This is what I was replying to: "Show me the CEO that has spoken against Trump. There is none. "

Is ja lustig.

@lkwtelefon@norden.social Wo ist die Frage?

@fmasy @milagemayvary @Khryshttps://www.phoronix.com/news/AMD-More-HDR-KWin-Claude-Code

@txtx No, because these things happened after another and people can change how they feel about things

@txtx @hollowone @taylorlorenz "Any software coming from a Californian/US corporation is essentially toxic to me." Imo judging any actor by external attributes that they either can do little about or aren't particularly meaningful to the thing being judged. Judging people by ethnicity, religion, gender is obviously toxic. Judging them by region of origin is certainly more unusual, but still toxic imo.

@Tubemeister @AvonVilla @inthehands "Not seeing any evidence" implies that you would know what evidence of it would even look like, which I'm not sure is even possible, except for some specific branches of theism making specific claims of course. Some of those can be rejected fairly easily.

@Gargron@mastodon.social Big butt plushtodon has already been done, Eugen. Don't act like that's your idea now.

@Gargron@mastodon.social Chnge it to "How to toot" right now! :neocat_legs_gun:

@txtx There's no "while" here.

@w_wobble @bubi352 @alpacamale @endolexi @afelia Nein.

@txtx Of course not

@stx @Daseinsappeal @NikTheDusky Yeah, I think it's a version of the Linux penguin

@hackbyte @tagesschau @cordialis Anscheinend schon halbwegs gut: "Bluesky protocol engineer Bryan Newbold remarked around 3:46 a.m. ET on Wednesday, “oof, our services are getting hit pretty hard tonight.” Notably, the service disruptions are impacting Bluesky, but other communities, like Blacksky, that run their own infrastructure on the underlying protocol that powers the decentralized social network, are still functioning." https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/17/its-not-just-you-bluesky-is-sorta-down/
