Because what could possibly go wrong with this quality-of-life upgrade?

Was this a funny coincidence, or did OOP change their name after they saw that Cruz had retweeted them?

Sorry, but it’s too fucking hot most places to even think about spooky season right now.

Yes, that's the point (it's an edit of an image Trump posted to truth social, then deleted after backlash).
Normally I call out AI slop too, but this one has "official" precedence.

This literally just happened. How is it already compressed to early-2000s levels of jpg?

I've installed ublock on the phones of some *very* non-techie older adults in my life, specifically because they're non-techie and never would have even known ublock existed otherwise. Granted these folks are definitely not on Lemmy either, but point is there's a wide range of users out there

Guardians, absolutely. First was brilliant, second starts to fall to Marvel tropes, and by the third I just couldn't wait for it to be over.

I mean, it's not like it's a time-consuming thing to do. I haven't checked in with everyone, but at least one person is still using the setup two years later and is grateful for it so I call that a win. But my original point was about not making assumptions that people who use ublock are going to be tech savvy.

Based on the world’s collective experiences during covid, I’m thoroughly convinced 4.15 billion of those people are actually wondering how they as individuals can work to make things worse.

Actually Star Trek: Lower Decks covers the issue of using AI for nefarious purposes. In the series finale, an enemy Klingon superimposes video of a Starfleet admiral over herself making a message ordering the handover of a Klingon asylum seeker (second-in-command smells something fishy and hides the asylum seeker, until the video is confirmed a fake). Then in the comic Shaxs’ Worst Day, the head security officer, Shaxs, uses the holodeck to recreate the bridge of a ship he just commandeered to pretend to be the captain he just killed while communicating with evil universe Starfleet command.
It should be noted that Lower Decks was made in the last decade, and not only incorporates a lot of contemporary social/technological issues and concerns, but also is a comedic reflection on the Star Trek franchise, and freely calls out things that have made fans go “huh?”

Note that this was posted by Katie Miller (conservative political advisor and wife to the ghoul Stephen Miller), which immediately coats it in a thick layer of sus and prompts the immediate question: what’s her angle here?
