Alright I have got a mmapped buffer with guile! I'm using libc for the time being, not sure if there are more idiomatic ways of doing parts of it.

@stevejohnson42@nerdculture.de I don't necessarily known too much about practicality, hence me asking what people are playing with.
But I hear a lot or people daily drive BSDs, I have had a good experience with Haiku, I have heard of people using plan9, and there's GNU/Hurd.

@johnnydecimal@hachyderm.io @daisy@cloudisland.nz I kinda do, but I am not sure I do fully, because for most people having an app that does the thing they wanted was aways a google search away - and yet most people never did, because most people don't care even that much.
And then the people who care, especially enough to make an app, always cared a fair bit.
So in general it seems we have suddenly given a lot of people permission and confidence from the familiar interface, but not necessarily actually changed what could be done by them technically.
Which might be fine and doesn't change your point.
Does that make sense?
