When you are surrounded by the smoke of #Spokane burning in the hellscape of a #climatechange summer, this is how you let fresh air into the house. Two heavy-duty furnace filters in the window.

Thirty years ago, I spent hours sitting in front of a CRT monitor typing cryptic commands in white-on-black text with a flashing prompt to make cool stuff happen. Things have changed so much since then.

If you’re not affected by #LongCovid then it’s easier for you to forget what a public health catastrophe the ongoing #Covid19 #pandemic still is. Your odds of having to deal with challenges like these are a lot higher than you might know, or want to know.
Emily, I hope things get a little easier for you soon.

@huskify@mastodon.world We had our own escape to the west side of the mountains a couple weeks ago. Blue sky and green land. It was glorious.

@dlakelan @zl2tod Currently using a 20-year old fridge, washer, and dryer, and hoping they keep working. Because anything that replaces any of them won’t last half as long.
And yeah, as an electrical engineer, I absolutely hate the planned-obsolescence LED bulbs. Very convenient for the manufacturers to have those cheap capacitors available that die way faster than the LED itself.
