@DemocracyMattersALot@mstdn.social I'll keep saying it...
The global rise in fascism is directly tied to the money the global oil barons are paying for it. They can't imagine giving up their .01% status and their infinite wealth. The politicians they buy not only pledge allegiance to oil but also ensure the rise of ignorance and cruelty so that most of the population is busy demonizing each other. They know that a well informed electorate would vote for human survival - given half a chance.

Trump IS dumb! But the oligarchs aren't.
Trump wasn't hired for his smarts; he was hired for his ability to inspire stupidity so that no one had a chance to stop and think "Maybe destroying civilization just so the billionaires could be sole survivors isn't good for me and mine.

I bet their noise pollution is much worse than windmills - and the noise is still less deadly than their carbon pollution and less destructive than their giant water theft.

@gabrielesvelto@mas.to My grandkids won't die if they have to go without artificially intelligent google surveillance.
They *could* be killed in the fire, floods and famine coming our way from climate change.
Meanwhile, AI, with its greed for energy and water will double the speed of approaching climate disaster.
But (boo hoo) billionaires won't be able to even more deeply analyze, direct, and monetize our thoughts and attention
BAID!

He has to 'tax' regular consumers to make up for the free ride he gives to American elite billionaire oligarchs.

The whole point of democracy is to restrain the powerful in the service of the common good. Friedman and Reagan declaring that capitalism only works when it is unrestrained was the beginning of American Fascism.

"the war against kleptocrats" is a misnomer.
Republicans are dismantling a key tool in our ability to defend ourselves 8n the war fomented against us by kleptocrats.

One of the tipping points I was not expecting is that, as climate disasters start really happening, people's anxiety leads them only to more fear, belligerent and denial.

Intellectual dark age?
Just in time for humanity's most existential crisis. Will we survive the billionaires' drive to burn down the world...?
