It's been far too long since I got out early enough to enjoy the beauty of the morning light breaking through the trees.
Technically it's still Summer, but the 9°C morning air during this morning's bike ride was more like Autumn, and cooler than the warm sunlight suggested.

Arrived home, opened the door and was immediately hit by the blaring music of my wife's impromptu ABBA song and dance party.
There was only one way to deal with this.. 🕺 💃
There was a time I'd go out at 9 or 10 to party on a Saturday night and be out all night.
I just had a glass of wine with dinner. Goodnight. 🥱
I've shared that at one time I had lost everything, and had literally nothing but the clothes on my back. And impossible debt.
I eventually got a job and an apartment, but couldn't afford furniture, dishes, often food.
Anyone meeting me got none of the material camouflage we often hide behind, which can be revealing for both sides.
That was the point in my journey I met her. Over
30 years ago.
She still catches me staring at her occasionally and asks what I'm thinking about.
All of it.
A small young girl walking in the park with her mother stopped to admire colourful flowers along the side of the path.
Excited, she commented on how beautiful one flower was in particular. The mother interrupted her and basically said to ignore it as it was just a weed.
What?
I'm sorry, but if the child says that it's a beautiful flower, then it is.
Anyway, beauty comes in many forms.

Sometimes people are surprised that I am very happy with my very modest existence, if they learn that it was once one of relative abundance.
They perceive it as a loss that should have broken me, not realizing that after the abundance, I was also lost everything and had nothing but the clothes on my back, before reaching this new modest level of enough.
There's a lot of lessons in such a journey.
My wife asked me if I had any plans for the day, like I would know when she hasn't told me yet. 🙄

20 years ago I suggested to my wife that we invite her mom to join us for a week in Paris.
Pauline accepted and gave me the most esteemed designation of "best son-in-law ever" in the process.
I am the only son-in-law. 😉
This last year, she didn't remember any of these things because of Dementia, but we do, so the designation still stands.

Wildfires 🔥 in Washington state are filling Calgary Alberta Canada with smoke and current air quality is beyond high risk level on the health index.

I can eat a Costco sized bag of nacho chips in a single sitting, but only if my wife isn't home.
That time my boss said good morning to me knowing full well that it was unlikely.
Standing by the thousand degree outdoor grill in the hot sun, because it's too hot to cook inside today.
Sometimes I wake up as early as one hour after I get up in the morning.
Some days it's a bit more.
If we don't post anything for a while, people may assume that we're out there doing important things and enjoying life.
Of course it's not true, but why ruin the mystique.
I still have to wear clothes in the summer? This is BS. 😠

Checking our social feeds in the morning is as much a roll call to see if our people are okay, as it is about what is being posted.
Like my wife hasn't dealt with enough stress recently.. her mom passed during the night. 😞

People with implanted cardio devices must be aware of everyday equipment sound, electrical and magnetic frequencies that can impact the functionality of the device and even be deadly.
Common things like cell phones, or green electrical junction boxes in the yard.. And a whole list of others that people don't give a second thought about. All dangerous, l requiring serious precautions or outright avoidance.
Now image a massive data center in the area.. 🤔

Apparently I did not have the right-of-way.
It was ages ago, before life got in the way and we somehow forgot that a bike ride through the park on a sunny day was as important as anything we might do.
Looking for some small annoying revenge curses.
A few days ago a neighbour at our condo complex said that they saw a coyote in our yard carrying away what appeared to be an orange cat.
This evening I saw someone putting poster of what appeared to be a missing cat notice on a pole in our neighbourhood, so I took a closer look.
Oh no.. my buddy Simba.
