Wired: neighbors concerned about new data centers
Inspired: neighbors concerned about megaconstellations of starlinks, space data centers, and orbital mirrors fucking up their shit

Used to be that even sports betting was illegal. Now you can bet on like everything and it encourages dumb shit. When can we go back to gambling being illegal.
Pretty bad look for microslop that they appear to be nuking privacy and security apps like WireGuard and VeraCrypt on Windows.
I would be interested to know if this is affecting other programs, or if they are specifically targeting apps that shield users from big tech surveillance.
Part of my job is to interview and hire candidates, but boy does it make it hard to sell the position as something I or they should be excited about when corporate leadership is trying to spread the AI brainrot to all corners of the company.
Finished reading:
WHEN WE'RE IN CHARGE by Amanda Litman
The only leadership/management book I have ever cared to read, and the only one I would recommend anyone else read. Good perspective.
GANGSTERS OF CAPITALISM by Jonathan M. Katz
An essential read on US history. Covers the origins of US imperialism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which my history in school certainly didn't cover. Yet all of it feels so familiar to the world around us today.
If you have time to fuck around with AI, especially on the clock, you have time to read EMPIRE OF AI by Karen Hao.
Or at least THE AI CON by Emily Bender and Alex Hanna.
It's that time again folks... senior management is on my back again pushing my team to use AI.
So what are your best, most effective (without getting me fired) strategies, arguments, or references/sources to push back and draw a line in the sand in favor of human talent and creativity, and especially trust in my team to make their own choices?
(If this is not a question you have an answer for, please do not answer. I am not looking for someone to convince me to allow this.)
So now part of my job is wasting my time reviewing the slop my boss prompts chatgpt to shit out to validate his unwavering commitment to AI.
