This might be annoying, but it is often the right approach. To step back and reevaluate. But #LLMs don't usually ask you that. Sometimes a little bit of pushback is the right thing.

And you better format any new code the way I formatted mine, including tabs vs spaces. I don't care if the way I did it is against the way it is usually done in the given language. I mean really. That is basic stuff. Do it the way the project does it.

These weird errors were somehow caused by nodemon restarting the app all the time. In development I write things to a simple JSON file instead of a proper key value store (the active sessions) and that file changed all the time so nodemon restarted the app in the middle of every request, basically. Weird that that caused that error! I saw no error in the server log, because there was none, just the nodemon restart, which I overlooked for too long. I have now --ignore-d the "database" file.

@razen04 It's my tiny hobby projects. There are no commit hooks or "settings". You look at the code with your eyes and you write your changes in the same style, but most importantly you don't run a code formatter on it!
