i find it hilarious that these techbro oligarch fascists are learning about the alignment problem while their failure to address it blows up in their faces. it captures the essence of it so well. the ai doesnt give a shit what you want, and theres nothing they can do about it without going back and doing some real hard work for a change.

I like the idea that Mewtwo is just a big psychic kitty cat. Always looking disinterested yet always in the same room as you. Decides loudly that now is the time for food, or pets, or playtime.

My latest phone is a Fairphone 6 with e/OS preinstalled, so it came degoogled and easily repairable out of the box. I intend to keep it for at least a decade. I cant imagine a feature I would be willing to upgrade for, so I'll probably keep it longer than that.

oh yeah I remember all of that. it was wild seeing the shift from rotary home phones, to the early mobile phones, a family friend had a fucking car phone lol, then blackberry and the flip phones, and finally the first iphone. all that happened while I was growing up. it was a time of such progress, half of it barely worked, but there was constant tenacious improvement. watching all of it get enshittified in fits and starts has been a joy... the worst part is seeing other millenials just accept that things are trash now like its the natural state of things. like... you remember when this didnt fucking suck why are you ok with it?

they might be using low settings so you have to do more sessions and they get paid more. its an unfortunate reality in some cases, especially at the cosmetic places, or so I'm told. I've been getting electrolysis on my face for the past several months, and while it does hurt it's manageable. I really like that it's actually permanent, so even if it will take a while because of the number of hairs on the face, every fully treated hair is gone forever, whereas laser is only a reduction for most hairs.

if things get really bad ill get high and have some ice cream. as long as i dont do it too much it makes me feel much better. oh or get high, go get a burrito, and eat it somewhere outside and watch the world go by. theres a lake near me i go to for that but anywhere with lots of plants is good.

you just keep putting words in my mouth. you cant end religion by forcing people to stop. you end it by educating people and teaching them critical thinking, so they can see the inherent flaws of religion for themselves and decide for themselves to leave it behind. its not a coincidence that more educated people tend to be much less religious. clearly the solution is more education for everyone, which would also help human society in innumerable other ways.

one of my earliest crushes was a girl i met on the local park district swim team. it was one summer in middleschool and we hung out at a few swim meets. for those who dont know how those work you basically sit around, snack, and socialize waiting for your event, then swim as hard as you can for a minute or two, then go back to socializing. theres lots of time for bonding and its summer so everyone just hangs out in their swimsuit.
i just remember wanting to be around her and look at her and talk to her and she was cool with me being around and included me. she was so cute and warm and easy to be around. if i had known what i was feeling back then i would have asked her out for sure, but silly innocent prepubescent me didnt know what to do with girls at all. i learned later that she had had a crush on me that summer too, but only several years later when her feelings had cooled. weirdly it never hurt to learn id missed my shot with her. it was just nice knowing she had felt the connection between us back then too.
i still think about her and how i felt back then sometimes. im glad i got to be there with her and i hope shes doing ok. i would still give it a shot with her.

religion is a blight on humanity and should be left behind if we want to survive as a species. it has no inherent value and serves only to hold us back and harm us. feel free to out yourself as one of the intellectually negligent by disagreeing with me.

im moving the following week, to a nicer place with more light for my kitties, so this week im going to be going through all my stuff and tossing as much as i can and packing the rest. already took the opportunity to throw out a bunch of mens clothes i was never going to wear again and it was honestly so cathartic.

yeah weed really fucks up your mental health when you do it too much. i was a daily user for like 2 or 3 years and it got to the point where it didnt even feel good anymore, at least not the way it used to. i finally stopped a month ago after i had a 50 mg edible and barely felt high but felt just the worst depressive episode ive felt in as long as i can remember. after that i didnt even want to get high anymore, so it was really easy to stop.

i see what youre saying, but please dont use the word polygamy that way… the word youre looking for is polyamory, or the more general nonmonogamy. polygamy might be technically correct in the root word sense, but the modern definition means one man with multiple wives.

yup and kids know it too, at least the ones paying attention. my high school even looked the part, being a nearly windowless brown box. i was so insanely angry all the time back then. all i wanted to do was gtfo so i wasnt under some adults thumb and subject to their capricious whims anymore. some of them even had the gall to pretend it was for my own fucking good…

monogamy. people try and try to make it work, but it so often just hurts them or their partner or both. they cheat, or they beat themselves up for wanting other people, or they suffer never having a relationship with someone they love, or they leave someone they love to be with someone they might love more, and no end of other bad situations. i hate that its pushed on us and i dont understand why people insist that its the natural way for us to be. since i committed to nonmonogamy ive been so much happier and it feels so right. how could anyone want to limit their relationships and the relationships of the person they claim to love the most by forcing themselves to be exclusive?

100% teleportation. you can do so many fun things with positional discontinuity. like yeah instant commuting, instant travel, live anywhere, work anywhere, go home to sleep every night no matter what forever, but thats the boring stuff. you could explore the solar system, visit another star. if you can take stuff with you you could revolutionize access to space for science. an enterprising individual could leverage it for… things that are against the rules to talk about here. so many possibilities only limited by your imagination.

im glad women are feeling comfortable keeping their body hair. no one should feel pressured to keep their body hair a particular way to meet societal expectations. that said i did nothing about my body hair for most of my life and it became a major source of dysphoria so im gonna keep killing it till its dead for good. i just love being smooth and soft way too much to ever give that up.

i grew up in an abusive household too but thankfully it was never sexual or violent (although i guess im not counting all the spanking… with a wooden spoon…), but was absolutely emotionally abusive. its hard to describe to people how bad it was and how it made me feel. every failure was my fault and punishable according to the capricious whims of my dad, and every success was expected and served only to raise the bar for next time. i never knew for sure what would set him off and earn me some kind of punishment. sometimes it was obvious, not meeting some obligation i was aware of but couldnt meet because of how my brain works. sometimes i just violated some unspoken expectation i could never have known because i was never told. sometimes for no reason at all just because he was in a bad mood and i happened to be in view. sometimes, a lot of times actually, i got in trouble just for having feelings about things, positive or negative. i felt like all they really wanted was an obedient doll who stayed out of the way when they didnt want something from me.
the worst part of all of it was that everyone around me acted like it was my fault. i wanted to be good. i wanted to be safe. i wanted to trust and love my parents and live up to their expectations and for them to be proud of me. but it was impossible and that was my fault. i was bad. i was disobedient. i had a problem with authority. no one had to look for a reason for it to be my fault they just knew it was at a glance.
sometimes i feel like it would have been better if something worse happened, so at least i could show someone the evidence of my abuse. some major injury maybe. bruises. a broken limb. something. all i got was deep emotional scars that im still trying to work through and heal, 12 years after moving out of their house.
idk why i typed all this. i hope youre doing ok these days.

a much better and less pressuring way to open the door to future communications is to offer them your own number. if they decline you know they arent interested and can move on. if they take it they can choose to just never contact you. it doesnt put the pressure on them in the moment and gives them space to decide later if they want. but who am i kidding the people who need to hear that the most dont care how uncomfortable they make people…

i go back to the jumper movie every once in a while cause the idea of being able to teleport is so cool. ive thought a lot about it and i think id get myself set up teleporting satellites and deep space probes for nasa and esa and stuff. charge like $1M for the big places that can afford it and do pro bono work for university groups and other people on a tight budget. big corporations can get fucked and do it the old fashioned way.

definitely agitated. its hard to tell without context and knowing the cat, but that tail thing is something they do when theyre amped up. sometimes my cats do it when theyre anxious, or about to have zoomies, or overstimulated from petting. could very well be annoyed but id guess anxious here if he felt like he had to run away from something. probably best to leave him be to calm down. he’ll come back around when hes feeling up to interacting again.
