1. Dad's now at a rehab facility after his operations and nearly weeklong hospital stay. I had a little walk with my friend after work and missed his call. I'm sure now that I've started a movie he'll call.

2. First movie is Dark Journey (1937), a British spy movie directed by Victor Saville, starring Conrad Veidt, Vivien Leigh and Joan Gardner.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Journey_(1937_film)

1. Second, I Am Omega (2007), a straight to video film directed by Griff Furst, starring Mark Dacascos, Geoff Meed, Jennifer Lee Wiggins, and Ryan Lloyd. It is what you think it is. Or at least so I presume.

Hey. #3goodthings

1. Dad got through his toe surgery well. He has an angiogram set for his legs tomorrow as they're fully blocked, which wouldn't have been found if he hadn't gone through the hospital intake rigamarole.

2. Got some cool movies in the mail today. I haven't been sharing hauls with you for a week but you're about to get slammed. This one includes an Assayas film, six Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman films, and Samurai II: Duel at Ichijoji Temple, all on DVD, the last one Criterion. I'm watching Demonlover (2002), directed by Olivier Assayas, first.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonlover

1. Second, I plan to watch Samurai II (1955), directed by Hiroshi Inagaki. I had the other two in the series but for some reason didn't have this one. This whole set came from an eBay purchase. #stoked

Welcome to the hot take and spitballing machine that is social media.

Wealth represents a demand on future resources, which may not ever materialize. It also prevents use of present resources by the poor (or by the public).

#3goodthings

1. Ran errands for my Dad today at lunch and after work, so I ate one of last season's stuffed peppers for lunch.

2. After the last errand, I stopped at a flooring place and priced out what it would take to redo the floors in two rooms. Affordable.

3. When I got home I decided to make a veggie lasagna, which I just put in the oven.

Also:

1. I was able to move my project work to a different stage and run up against another obstacle to ask for help with.

2. Thinking about what movies to watch tonight. I have thousands to choose from just in this room, most of which I have never seen. Here you go:

3. Confess, Fletch (2022), directed by Greg Mottola, starring Roy Wood Jr., Annie Mumolo, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenza Izzo, Kyle MacLachlan, and Marcia Gay Harden. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confess%2C_Fletch

I'm currently about 1/5 of the way in to Kim Stanley Robinson's New York 2140 and enjoying it, as I have every goddamn thing he's ever written. Seriously, it's all good. Long stories, with lots of human interest for all their high concepts.
