Yeah but XMPP sounds so techy you know… /s I bet that if someone scraped together the bare minimum and found a catchy name it’d be the winner easily. Et-tu-Brutus would slay IMO.

As a senior software person, I can tell you that that is absolutely not the problem. It’s never refactoring, pushing useless crap and vibe coding. On the top of my head.

Historian: donald trump made the EU arm up, the green transition go up, removed dependency of oil and gas, … Ghost of donald: so people remember me for doing good? Historian: what a shit head he was, if only he knew how we despise him. If we even remember him.

So Video games it is! /s PS. School was terrible back in the day too, at least people don’t dare to beat people up and assault as much nowadays as they’d get filmed.

I was taught that all humans are alike, that if you scind up society in better and less better humans you get nazism. But here we are, with mentally ill leaders (like elon, musk, trump, …) and mentally “challenged” (you know what I mean) hateful people cheering them on… I personally need more adjectives, for the hoarding egomaniac overlords, but also for the hateful people “at the bottom” that’ll turn on women, gays, foreigners, trans people, at the drop of a hat while simultaneously cry nobody helps them. Is it just people without empathy?

I use main instead of master on git, but what’s the substitute to slave? Especially in master/slave setups like you have 1 processor controlling a bunch of measuring equipment for example.

Your first phrase explains the problem perfectly IMO. Maybe everyone mustn’t make a youtube every other day. Sometimes I stumble onto an old youtube with all the information I need, but it’s getting rarer and rarer because people who “need” monetization push them out it seems.

Or they will pop all by themselves? I mean there is not very much new data to train on, and only so much refining you can do (and you don’t need to be one of the big endebted companies to do that).

Here we go again! You conflate one type of AI with all the other ones. Call it LLM or generative AI. I programmed AI 20 years ago, it still is AI but doesn’t use datacenters. I programmed deep neural networks ten years ago, it did not use datacenters either.

For me, except that it’s kind of complicated to set up, this is what is missing with IPFS, the repin (or “cid” stuff IIRC) is breaking the decentralised part. It’s “almost” decentralised, but not quite. Tenfingers is fully decentralised (it’s also very rugged against takedowns), you can just update the data without the need to change or regenerate the link, but it doesn’t work well with large datasets (a GB is already on the big side). For me, a mix of them would be the best of worlds, large data that doesnt change: IPFS, small data that changes: Tenfingers, Large data that changes: IPFS links shared with Tenfingers (so that you can publish the new IPFS links easily). I have approached IPFS users, but many doesn’t think it’s a problem that needs a solution. What do you think?

Content discovery on IPFS is complicated as you cant update information (it makes a whole new key, which has to be discovered).

Bordeaux here, it was 25°C at midnight. 26° at 23:30 (77°F & 79°F at uh 0am? 12am? and 11h30 pm). I’m not kidding, I’m going to move because in the long run it’s unbearable, and drinking from soggy paper straws won’t help. Whelp!

True, until you need to move them. It’s really a cat chasing it’s tail problem IMO. Do you use IPFS? Thanks for the links btw, I do know how the underlying tech works, thats why I think it’s nice but lacking. It’s like the grand-pa protocol for decentralised content. Better contenders exist, but I see no or very little use of any, IPFS included, which IMO is a shame.

Shoots down 1 satellite. Splinters pollute low orbit. Wrecks havoc. Satellites brow up left and right. Low orbit is now useless. Splinters fly up in higher orbits and the destruction continues. No more satellites can be launched at all. SR-72 is retired.
