@aras@mastodon.gamedev.place Had to dig this up from my old Facebook photos. I think I was the only one who found it funny at the time.

@floooh@mastodon.gamedev.place Thanks! There was continuous collision detection back in the day when I worked at Meqon/PhysX some 20+ years ago (brb crumbling to dust), but I'm sure it's evolved by now.

@penguinflight@mastodon.de @ticho@mas.to @aras@mastodon.gamedev.place I feel like this is someone's fetish.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I haven't fully thought this through so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like a _full_ correct specification of how a program should work has to be on par in complexity with "just" writing the program?

@kodsnack@social.podsnack.se @e8johan@social.linux.pizza Lysande bild! :)

@godotengine@mastodon.gamedev.place Love this new release notes format. (Don't know if it's been like this for any previous releases but it's the first time I saw it.)

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place I've used ShareX for at least a few years, and it does the job well. There's heaps of features in it I don't use, but the basic capture of both images, videos and gifs is smooth.

@bagder@mastodon.social 😊

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place Yeah, there's _a lot_ of options!

@kristoff linkLibrary works and definitely feels like the Way It's Meant To Be Played. I feel like I've tried that already, but the stars probably were misaligned some other way then. Thanks for the pointers! Feels like things are like they're supposed to be now.

@demofox@mastodon.gamedev.place Looks great, love the name. :D I was going to say wouldn't this make sense to have as just a single .h _and_ a single .cpp, but I guess a huge use case is just getting up and running very quickly and then you might not have a build system anyway.

@lawmurray@fosstodon.org This is cool. I've been thinking on and off about something like this, constructing an IDE out of separate collaborative applications/processes instead of a plugin/script system within a main process. Haven't quite gathered my thoughts around it though.

@MissingThePt@mastodon.social Tag yourself I'm MOONUN

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place Thanks I hate it

@olafurw@mastodon.social Where are you headed now?

@PixelProphecy Didn't know the 2600 was so insanely low on RAM. Amazing.

@hauro I don't have it available right now but I could make a minimal example and put somewhere. Asked the question and then left the house so I'll have to do it later. :)

@liujiacai Thanks, but I'm doing this but the include files aren't in the folder the path resolves to (inside zig-cache)

This project, which does pretty much the same thing that I'm doing now, uses addObjectFile. I've successfully used that project up until now, so I guess that _should_ work and is the way to go. I wonder why it doesn't like the resulting library when I do it. The only obvious difference I can see is that their module has actual Zig code in it wrapping wgpu, while mine is a pure translation of the C header. https://github.com/bronter/wgpu_native_zig/blob/main/build.zig

@photex I've fought enough with build systems, both others' and my own, that I don't feel like this is a deal breaker as such. On the contrary it can do a lot of things natively that often is more of hacks in other stuff. That said it's not very well documented, and there are not that many advanced examples available. But yeah, it's changing a lot over time so a 2 year old blog post describing something may be wrong today. I can totally understand if that puts you off.

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place Yeah I've heard it's good. If I did use something else I'd probably go back to Total Commander though for old times sake. File Pilot seems pretty nice too.

@aras@mastodon.gamedev.place Or even number of mistaken RGBA and BGRA switches.

@kristoff Managed to get it working. This part was correct, it was the consuming end that did it wrong. The path I needed to grab was not the module path, but "emittedIncludeTree". Like this: consuming_module.addIncludePath(wgpu_dep.artifact("wgpu").getEmittedIncludeTree());

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place Haha, fantastic

@jwz@mastodon.social I don't disagree really, but it's not necessarily clear cut. Where's the line for what just a browser is? Does that include password management? Extensions? Themes? Tabs? Translation? Developer tools? Bookmarks?

Actually now that I look closer at it, that one does both. And I've somewhat forgotten why I didn't want to use it. 😬

@floooh@mastodon.gamedev.place Any particular important differences from e.g. Jolt? (Edit: I haven't used Jolt either so I'm not 100% sure why I'm asking. :D)

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place It honestly was a big tipping point for switching to Linux at home.

@dotstdy Been meaning to check it out sometime but never gotten around to it. VCS is one of those things I don't want to play around too much with in case I screw things up. 😬

@sinbad@mastodon.gamedev.place I used Total Commander for yeeeears but then when I did consultancy for a while and switched computers a lot I ended up just getting used to regular File Explorer. But they managed to really downgrade it lately, which is impressive. I feel like if they put an effort in to make it better maybe they can get it back to where it was a few years ago.

@liujiacai I couldn't fit it in my post but wrote in a reply that I'd tried using "installHeader" as well. Turned out it actually did work, and I just didn't consume it properly in the receiving end. Adding it to a library that I used with linkLibrary set up the include paths properly automatically.

Ideally I'd just export the existing library as is to be linked in downstream projects with linkLibrary, but I'm not sure this is possible? Feels like it should be.

@feditips@mstdn.social Is there any upside to the apps rather than just using the web page? On Android I've added it to my start screen and it's basically indistinguishable from an app and seems to work well.

I've tried using lib.installHeader(...) which maybe works, but I can't figure out how to find/use it in the consuming project.

@aras@mastodon.gamedev.place @thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io Haha I was going to post this too. :D

@kristoff To be exact, this is the part after that initial screenshot:
