We love a good erasure poem, where the poet creates a poem by removing words from an existing text. In "tell us about doubt", Rath Mercury has gifted us with a two-stranded poem about the universe. https://smallwondersmag.com/piece/tell-us-about-doubt/
Our first piece this month is "Imagine Yourself Happy" by @premeesaurus@wandering.shop! Are you ready for a little bit of science and heartbreak this Monday morning?
"Isn't that interesting? I will die in perhaps two minutes because of something I couldn't even see."
Hey-o! There's still time to help us reach our goals for the subscription drive, and sneak in a subscription to get April's pieces via email while you're at it! Hit that button!
It's a lingering question with portal fantasies: what about those left behind? "What Are We If I Stay" by K.S. Walker is a quiet, thoughtful exploration of this idea, and has an ending that will knock your socks off.
Today's subscription drive theme is Really Long Titles for small wonders! These are a reminder that for poetry and flash fiction, titles can do a lot of heavy lifting. Also, they're fun.
You know what's not a heavy lift and is also fun? Subscribing!

Sometimes you need a story that's a call to action, a reminder that things can change, a push to rise up signing. "Songbook for the Jovian Resistance" by Gwendolyn Maia Hicks is all of those things and more:

It's no secret that we love animals here at Small Wonders - we've published bunches of pieces with critters in them - cats, dogs, mosasaurs (go on, put 'mososaur' into our search box), spiders, horses, bees, beetles, wolves, and more!

The narrator of Andy Dibble's "Pictures of My Dog" did nothing wrong and we will hear no word against them! We would do the same...

"Entries From My Grandmother's Diary Pertaining To My Father’s Early Inflammation" in issue 30 is a really remarkable tale - Marc A. Criley drew inspiration from his late grandmother Hazel's actual diary entries, and she is credited as a co-author!
