You can now install #Pixelix on Linux using Flatpak.
https://github.com/ghostbyte-dev/pixelix/releases/tag/v5.2.3-flatpak
We want to submit Pixelix to Flathub soon, in order to make installation even simpler.
Please let us know in the comments what you think and if everything works.

We are making good progress on Desktop support for Pixelix. Today we were able to package the app as Flatpak.
Now we are making the app responsive so it also looks good on larger screens.
Once that is done we will publish Pixelix as Flatpak for Linux and as WebApp.

Pixelix is now free!
After two and a half years of developing Pixelix and having it as a paid app, we've decided to switch things up and make Pixelix free for everyone.
We’re really excited to see where this takes Pixelix, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us so far.

We are already working on the next #Pixelix update, which will support the #Vernissage feature "Editor's choice".

Pixelix version 5.0.0 with Vernissage support is now available.
This is one of the largest updates we have ever shipped. We refactored a large portion of Pixelix's architecture to support multiple platforms with different feature sets.
Additionally many UI components got a design overhaul.
The APK is available on GitHub.
Play Store, App Store and F-Droid are following soon.
Check it out, and let us know what you think.

The latest Pixelix version adds support for those 4 different timeline views. Those views are available for all post timelines, so home, local, global and hashtag timelines. Also on the profile page and for timelines like bookmarked and liked posts.

The latest Pixelix update on App Store got rejected by Apple due to a misunderstanding. We try to resolve the problems as fast as possible.

We’ve just released a new update with important bug fixes and improvements. Here’s what’s new:
- Fixed 1:1 aspect ratio issues on Pixelfed posts
- Resolved reply and comment bugs
- Added custom profile field editing for Vernissage
The update is available on Github Play Store, App Store and F-Droid are following soon.
https://github.com/ghostbyte-dev/pixelix/releases/tag/v5.0.1
Also new with the latest Pixelix update are the default preferences for post creation. There default caption templates, post visibility and license can be defined.
These preferences are then the default when creating a new post, but they can of course be changed in the post editor again.
Default license does only exist for Vernissage.

Also exclusive to Vernissage are the header image and the fields (the custom key-value entries of a profile). The header image can already be uploaded in Pixelix, but the fields are read only for now. They can be edited in the official web app of Vernissage. Editing the fields in Pixelix will come with the next update.
Both of those features are compatible with Mastodon, so when watching a Mastodon profile in Pixelix it also displays the header and the fields.

When visiting a user profile on Pixelix, a small icon at the top is indicating the Fediverse software which the profile is using. This icon can be clicked to open a dialog with more information about the software and the server.
Previous versions of Pixelix fetched this data from FediDB. With our latest Pixelix update we exchanged the FediDB dependency with our own service called FediSea.

We had some problems where the reproducable build of F-Droid did not succeed. We fixed the problem and it has been successfully merged into the F-Droid repo now. The update should be available in the next few days.
The latest update is available on App Store now.

@TrashDiva@mastodon.social It's a bug. We were not able to reproduce it, but we are trying to fix it.

@kallekn@mastodonsweden.se It is possible that some of the original wordings are not completely right. We need to check all the english strings at times.
Replying to
@andrewblasco It will be included in the next F-Droid release cycle, which will be in the next few days.

@unattributed I am sorry, I think I didn't explain it correctly.
The whole FediSea project is very new and we just blocked the whole Gotosocial software as a development help. Actually now we are using exactly the same solution you proposed, a blocklist for single servers. We just forgot to remove the filter from the search page.
Replying to
@unattributed Fixed it, gotosocial should be discoverable in the search now. Thanks for the bug report!
We blacklisted it in early versions because of some troll instances and forgot to remove the blacklist :)

@terrakok Oh, that looks great, thank you. I was trying to do everything manually and it was awful😅

@krafting@mamot.fr We thought that it was a bit too prominent in the bottom bar, and we also wanted to make the bottom bar smaller, that's why we moved it to the top bar. Thanks for the feedback, maybe we find a better solution.
