Its not typical, but you can get 20 Mb+ jpegs out of an entry level 18MP dlsr. Especially if there’s lots of color and at like 5500x3300 resolutions and 100% quality.

You are all wrong. They all use Pingo Linux. An abandoned Slovenian linux distro. They're running vulnerable software, but they don't care, they're penguins.

I recently realized: fuck it, just have the build date as the version: 2026.02.28.14 with the last number being the hour. I can immediately tell when something is on latest or not. You can get a little cheeky with the short year '26' but that's it. No reason to have some arbitrary numbers represent some strange philosophy behind them.

7 is the magic number for me. 1-5 feels like its bots, 6 is close, 7 is 'yeah, I feel validated'.

I've had zero problems installing it and exposing it on one of my subdomains via nginx. I thought it was one of the easiest things to install and configure. Like, no errors or unknowns when installing.
That being said, this isn't something the average user will be or even should be doing. Its a niche product for the tech literate, not an alternative for what cloud providers are offering. I'd not recommend it to anyone who can't tell the difference between "wifi" and "internet".

Afaik, Microsoft made it a core principle to not break backward compatibility. Something that mattered to a lot of enterprise users. Applications made in Windows XP era, still work today on Win 11.

Lol no. They'll just hire some people to do it like they always have.
Create a fucked up world where a small handful of people control every resource. Everyone else has nothing. Give a few people a little more and they'll kill for it. Its never going to be robots, we'll be killing and be killed by our own kind.

Just a euphemism to get rid of the common denominator and if you have a desire to learn, you will be going beyond what the average person knows about computers. An immich server is not a particularly difficult thing to achieve. Think about hardware first, where it will run and where you want something running 24/7 (or not?). Then move to OS and software. Once you got it working locally, think about backups and how you will access it from the internet as your next steps.
If you are a "learn as you go" type, you already have a goal and that's exactly what you need to start.
Sorry I'm being so abstract, but anything else and I'd just be giving you a guide lol.

Location, weather and time is key when eating outside. Have eaten many a meal outside without issue and I prefer it to inside when the three align.

You're right. I'm looking at it through a very limited scope: nightly releases. I've been working with "latest" so long, I forgot actual versions exist.

Nice, nice. Lots of nutrition. Jar of Nutella will do fine if I'm lost in the wilderness.

What? I thought the point of the octagon was so you can also tell its a stop sign from the other side and always know who has priority.

Gen Y had suicide jokes for a while now with similar looks from boomers. Meme feels more like passing the torch to Gen Z as they’re starting to do it too.

They are outcasts of society, so they stick together. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a network of furies all looking out for each other in every field. They probably have a secret handshake or wink or something.

I see it this way: my boss has no right asking me if I have children or not and I have no obligation to tell the truth when asked. Its a non issue if you ask me.
Parents get to pay less taxes here, so their net pay is higher. I’m OK with that.

You’re installing a headless system right? Ubuntu and Debian are going to have very similar if not downright identical day to day operating procedures, including installing and setting up new things. Ubuntu is going to have software packages coming from a different repository and they may be newer (though this rarely matters) and the initial install may be different. One is backed by a for profit corporation and one by a large open source community. Whenever you need help, guides for Debian will probably work on Ubuntu and vice versa.
For home self hosting use, it boils down to you own philosophy. In practice, it won’t really matter… they’re both really similar.
I proudly use Debian BTW.
