Sad, that the recommendation is “use Bluetooth speakers instead, which are more expendable” instead of “are safe to use”.

When will big companies lobby for patent law changes? I guess they still see enough value on the other end, with their own patents and lawsuits.

a default-disabled prototype No wonder it didn't show up in normal/enduser release notes. This article suggests you have to disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection to test it. Does it replace that entire system with an equivalent system? I'll wait until it's stable and productive.

Why do they source-link a random Twitter post but not the security researcher report nor the app the whole article is about? Every link is to their own articles.

If you're interested in a counter argumentation/expert analysis of previous posts, The Boy That Cried Mythos: Verification is Collapsing Trust in Anthropic is very critical about the whole press and marketing around Anthropic's Mythos. (lemmy post link)

It's so stupid in Germany. It *was* state-owned. Then, privatization and Telekom expanded into other nations. In Germany, it violates net-neutrality, and sends repeated lying, misleading, and pressuring door-to-door marketing. For a premium cost, you don't get a premium service. Worse, it's still so big that it affects infrastructure over the whole of Germany. Insane.

and “it was only once” is bullshit

They checked and then fired the author. I don't see how this is "it was only once" implying nothing changed and it will happen again. Isn't firing the author "holding journalism to a higher standard" already, which you ask for?

Totally fine. Containerization comes at a cost too. It's a matter of system design, knowing your risks and complexities, and handling them accordingly. With such a size, before containerization I'm wondering if these services are not independent enough to split them onto multiple servers. Having everything together reduce system complexities in some ways, but not in other ways.

They fear falling behind other browsers and losing users because of it. They see AI prevalence and see it as an opportunity to profile and position Mozilla as a leader in "ethical ai". They see AI use cases and success and think they have to integrate it to have additional, useful, significant features.

It's insane to me that you claim it doesn't allow internal corruption when China is a very corrupt system. There may be good systematic economy foundations, I can't speak much about those, but if they're not applied to everyone and just then it's besides the point.

I had no idea the 50 years after death was the "minimum" and some countries add more years :O

/edit: I was a bit confused about the +50 list listing European countries, but the text saying something different.

In most countries of Africa and Asia, as well as Belarus, Bolivia, New Zealand and Uruguay; a work enters the public domain 50 years after the creator's death.

In Bangladesh, India, and Venezuela a work enters the public domain 60 years after the creator's death.

With the exception of Belarus (Life + 50 years) and Spain (which has a copyright term of Life + 80 years for creators that died before 1987), a work enters the public domain in Europe 70 years after the creator's death, if it was published during the creator's lifetime.

United States: Under the Copyright Term Extension Act, books published in 1930, films released in 1930, and other works published in 1930, will enter the public domain in 2026.

Not a random individual, but I would expect a court to be able to do so. Hold them, get an expert, verify.

I watched this in a YouTube Shorts format a week ago, where they ask a few models about walking or driving to the car wash.

They have some more funny ask AI shorts.

Or maybe the bubble will pop, and we’ll have a repeat of 2008, except 100 times worse.

The AI spending and stock is much more localized. It's not grown over more years and integrated into many financial systems. So the results may be much less severe.

CC BY-SA gives freedom of use. Why do you think additional consent would be necessary? Or do you mean that because the restricting conditions are not met, additional consent would be necessary? Given the form of transformation, Share-Alike is certainly difficult to meet, if not impossible. Is that what you referred to with “is not open”? Or do you mean something else?

AD is a security nightmare. EntraID requires internet but at least allows zero trust with diverse configuration and importantly without storing or holding session tokens or passwords locally. For my company, the only blocker is file share, which can be migrated. All our with integration use ldap and can be migrated to openid. Luckily we don’t have more AD integrated stuff.

Nah, it seems much more likely to me that he’s all about the resources there and making money from them, as well as controlling the and projecting power from the entire hemisphere around US soil. Ballistic missile defense may have been something he heard from someone, but I seriously doubt he makes strategic considerations and decisions like that, at least as a or the primary aspect.

EntraID also seems corporate established. For a modern with system, with zero trust etc, you use EntraID instead of AD now. Of course, legacy AD systems, if they exist, are also lock-in.

I haven’t checked but I don’t see what as a reasonable assumption. If they test for short burst performance specifically then the short runtime is the point. You then use multiple iterations of the test run to get a reasonable, reproducible result.
