NASA mysteriously trying to pull world’s fastest plane, SR-71 Blackbird, out of retirement — and won’t say why
Seeing Blackbird fly again after all these years would be incredible. I’d love to know what NASA has planned for it.

SpaceX had an outage at their data centre, and because they sell computing power to other companies, it affected them as well.
That was two sentences stretched out into an article.

Stop giving AI more credit than it deserves. It’s not going to change the world, it’s not going to revolutionise industries, it’s going to keep spitting out verbose nonsense until we get bored of it.

Possibly, but there’s no practical use for it in my industry, and everything I’ve seen it try and do has been, at best, mediocre. I’ve also noticed that the people who are most enthusiastic about it are never particularly impressive themselves.
Overall, I think it gets far more credit than it deserves, from both it’s fans and critics.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought as well. Fuel economy has been a major selling point for as long as cars have existed, because it’s always been a major part of the cost of running a vehicle.

Yeah, I thought the same thing as well. I’ve got no doubt it’s gotten worse, but the place was never known for originality.

Probably because the AI has no concept of satire or sarcasm, and will tell people to put glue on pizza because someone was a smartass on Reddit.

>There's a conspiracy floating around that Jackson became aware of the human trafficking to the ultrawealthy and he was smeared and possibly killed for it. No real evidence but it's a fun one to think about.
This is not something I wouldn't consider "fun to think about.
Also, damn that got heated.

I always find it hilarious when someone trawls through my comment history looking for dirt.
That’s when you know you’ve really gotten to someone.

That's a fascinating conspiracy theory, but I think the most likely explanation is greed on behalf of the accusers, or their parents.

It's a very fine line between something like that, and outright prostitution.

There was one person injured, this was not a mass shooting by any definition.
Stop making shit up.

Someone had to go trawling when I said I appreciated Pizzacake’s nuanced and informed take on a topic, and people couldn’t tell I was being sarcastic.
There’s nothing nuanced or informative about her work.

Most naval vessels can do just over 30, if that. Cargo vessels spend most of their life below 10.
50 knots means there's some fuckery afoot.

I've read claims that some nuclear aircraft carriers can go a lot faster than 30, but I suspect that's bullshit.
There's also a phenomenon known as hull speed, where a displacement hull vessel takes an exponential amount of power to go slightly faster once you hit it. They're also not going to have an engine that's massively more powerful than they need, just in case.
50 knots would outrun pretty much any large vessel on the planet.

No, it isn't. A nautical mile is a measurement of distance, a knot is a nautical mile per hour.

A knot is a nautical mile per hour, I'm not sure how you've reached the conclusion that's not distance over time.

Do you think this gives the AI companies more credit than they are due? It implies they actually have the ability to achieve this, and I just don’t think they do.
