Are you talking about a stocks takeover? Because I fail to see how buying up hardware has anything to do with it.

I agree, the maths argument is not a good one. While a neural network is perhaps closer to what a brain is than just a CPU (or a clock, as it was compared to in he olden days), it would be a very big mistake to equate the two.

OP is still running 5 containers though? And why does a home server need to implement an IT security standard meant for large organisations? I hope you got an incident response policy written down, would be a shame to fail the next audit.

I feel like that should be quite easy to verify with wireshark.

So that's why there weren't any open source apps on iOS. When I started my degoogling journey I got an iPhone to try out the grass on the other side. But i was sorely disappointed by both the low quality of the apps and the lack of open source alternatives.

He does show that wireless cameras WiFi activity can be used to track people inside their home. But that seems like a targeted attack, not necessarily something that would be used for mass surveillance. But locally hosting the footage removes you from almost all the issues in general and what's brought up in this video. Just ideally you'd run the cameras over PoE.

I upgraded from 22 to 24 as well. Cosmic is nice and can be used as a daily driver, but not quite there for a power user. I've installed KDE and like it quite a bit so far. But how has no one made a file browser that can match or beat thunar yet? Like the mist basic things like selecting and copying from the address bar and click and drag to select multiple items without needing to start from some empty space at the bottom!

The Amazing Digital Circus. It’s a great animated show, well worth a watch if your brain got a sprinkle of brain rot, but it still deals with some good subject matters.

For me it’s a bit too perfect. A human could definitely have achieved the same result, but I’m not sure someone who would spend this much time perfecting an image like that would add the glow on the floor that seemingly comes from nowhere with no purpose.
I agree with you, detecting AI slop is becoming extremely hard for me. Sometimes, like in this example, you can ask for what purpose something was done. Why is the underglow in there, and where does the light come from? A human staring at this image for at least a handful of hours would have made decisions about it, someone generating the image wouldn’t really think about it and just go “eh looks cool”.

That’s a tip I got from Adam Savage. The item lives where you first thought went. Works surprisingly well for me as someone who commonly forgets where I leave things.

I always feel it’s so dishonest comparing the energy requirement between plastic and paper. Yes, paper takes a lot to produce, planting them, machinery for harvest, processing and so on. But energy is practically infinite with solar power. And while alive the trees are working as carbon capture, and when the bag gets thrown on the ground it puts the carbon back into the soil. I wonder how many paperbags have killed fish and turtles compared to plastic ones.
