Generative AI is like fast food, and it’s embarrassing that some people don’t realize that.
It “works” the same way you can eat fast food to prevent starvation since you do get calories from it. But you essentially do damage to yourself long term and slowly kill yourself.
In moderation it can work, but just like fast food, it’s always better to eat less, ideally 0 amount.
It might be worth it if you don’t have any other option, but not having any other option is a bigger failing on overall planning.
If you consume lots of it then you do tolerate it more than those who abstain themselves; whom totally feel sick when they consume any of it.
At the end of the day, it would never be considered quality or good, but just like fast food, our cooperate overlords will try to get us to use it as much as possible.
I just hope this means that similarly, those who respect their mind/body can easily live their life and avoid it.
The only difference I can think of is that fast food is profitable, which is pretty hilarious.
So, back to the title, imagine living in a world where a significant chunk of the population think McDonald’s is somehow better than home cooked meals. That’s where we are at atm.

I would say I like it here, imo the format and overall technology is perfect. I am always impressed by how little battery and data voyager uses compared to all the other bloated apps on my phone.
Having said that, I am disappointed that even without feeds and algorithms, it has become a lot more rage inducing and depressing then I would have hoped for.
There is just so many things that affect my life in a negative way being shown here, can’t a guy get a little ignorant bliss about nerdy topics? Or long, deep discussions comparing the philosophies of niche hobbies?

“I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” Sheeran said. “The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy. There are too many wars across the world causing immeasurable pain, none of which should be tolerated.”
So his stance is please stop fighting, regardless of who the aggressor is.
I wonder if he also wants the war in Ukraine to end by giving Russia some land.

“Its useless and acheives nothing” is not a realistic take and anybody who does any kind of office job and has used an ai in the past year would be able to tell you the same.
I have an office job and I can tell you it’s useless.
Sure you might feel like your being more productive but that’s only because your lowering your output quality.
Reducing cost by reducing quality has always existed.
Think about it this way, if you reach support helpline, would you feel like your getting the same quality support if it’s a chatbot?

If you kept reading you would see:
However, the BCBSA warns that if patients really were becoming sicker, we should be seeing increases in treatment – but we’re not. “The disconnect between diagnoses and treatment suggests that AI is identifying more billable conditions, not sicker patients,” SVP of Product and Data Science Luke Chalker said.
Who cares if it says it’s identifying more, the real indicator is healthier patients or increase in care, neither is happening.

Oh that note, looking back, Andrew Yang might have been the best choice for a nominy in 2020.
Imagine if chatGPT came out and then the president of US, who fully understands the enshitification and rug pull model of Silicon Valley just slapped a huge VAT tax on it, or maybe forced companies to charge the real price.
Man Biden was such a bad choice in 2020

Hahaha, AI hype has already reached and past its peak, the best time to do an ipo for them is today, second best time would be tomorrow.
Sure it might be here to stay, but the gold rush FOMO phase is over.

I wish every game was like that AND the game saves were always in the directory.
I want to download, play, backup after I’m done without needing to manage all the save locations.

Am I the only one that kind of like corporate Memphis?
I am not saying they are artistic, but minimalist. It purposely doesn’t have much details and depth so the viewer doesn’t really focus on it and just gets a pretty simple idea or emotion from it.
It’s like hating elevator music cause it’s not the type of music you would listen to recreationally.

when a lot of its practical utility is in fairly mundane office and middle-management work, no?
So business created inefficient ways of working then pat themselves on the back when they come up with an expensive shortcut?
Or you know, office processes are the problem.

I have mixed feelings on these types of criticism, on one hand it does summarize the situation correctly, on the other, it kind of misses the point that all these “political idiots” are living a life of grand luxury.
A criticism like this implies some kind of master bitch situations whereas the reality is that it’s a privileged, psychopath’s club. He sees bibi as his buddy that will scratch his back with gaza resort hotels.

have run out of leads it can sometimes produce more
I sometimes use it for that too but imo that’s a downgraded replacement from asking a colleague or a more senior person.
The capitalist class has squeezed the workers so much that taking a step back and asking your peers can be seen as wasting time, but that’s when breakthroughs happened.

You should be able to own the right to bring a novel idea into production, after it’s generally available then it should have no protection.
Basically if you come up with an idea, you get to get the first initial rounds of profits to make it worth your while, that’s it.

I am very pro Linux and have been trying to migrate all my system but I got to say:
I installed windows 11 LTSC and disabled automatic updates, it’s not good but it’s also not this bad.
If your wondering why, pirating games isn’t very seamless on Linux yet,

Don’t worry, I would wait until those who want it more get it first.

There are some situations that having your data in the cloud makes more sense than others.
Having a live video feed of your home is like one of the top worse use cases.
Best one imo is steam game saves

Ehh, I do agree $5K is a lot, but it also comes down to using biking as transportation or exercise.
If transportation, then yeah get something cheap.
If it’s for exercise, imo it’s like building a computer, spending a grand or two can be worth it if you have the money. It would come from the “hobby budget”

That assumes it’s done additively.
I think a lot of these AI automation promises come down to:
Are you adding a tool thereby increasing the overall quality of service and cost.
Or are you trying to reduce cost even if it means reducing service quality.
The first one doesn’t take any job away and makes everything just a bit better but more expensive.
The second one is a race to the bottom strategy that just comes down to capitalism doing its thing.

That’s a fair point, we also called video game enemy algorithm AI.
But no one calls that AI, I think the key indicator is a statistical model instead of a human coded script

To:
He fully knows what he is doing.

But would it be worth it if they had to pay the creative costs for it?
They are only worth it now cause it doesn’t include that AND it’s subsidized by investor money.

Jets could also be done in a renewable way (like using hydrogen), whereas some things, like driving a gas car, will always be a net negative.

“Our AI content strategy has started a ‘doom loop’ that will hurt the performance of our models and the entire web at the same time: It is highly unusual that an end-product threatens the economic foundations of its essential suppliers, but that is the situation we have created for our LLM business with respect to its ‘content supply chain,’” the document said.
So basically the ouroboros

Hmmm, I wonder if that’s their solution to the pricing gap.
Maybe they have realized that they will never be able to charge the consumers the real price so perhaps their solution is to make them worse across the board.

PISA data show that students who use AI for specific schoolwork tasks, such as summarising texts, drafting or conducting research, attain lower scores in science than students who do not use AI. In these scenarios, students who do not use AI outperform those who do, on average, by around 20 points – equivalent to being around one year of schooling ahead of their peers. However, weekly users of AI for general purposes have similar performance outcomes to non-users. Students who regularly use AI for general purposes, and have learning opportunities at school to develop AI literacy skills, tend to have slightly higher scores in science. However, these opportunities are more common among socio-economically advantaged students, risking a growing AI divide.
