This is so wonderful!

New MacBook Pros continue to be an excellent value. I’ve been buying Mac laptops my biz my since the PowerBook 170 (1991) and I’ve always spent $3500 to $5000 on the near top of the line plus needed accessories (which included several extra batteries and an external charger (only 45min run time each!), optional optical drive, and even a 3rd party faster 56K modem for an early model (180 I think?).

Newly released models, config as I need/want: $3K-$5K ✔️

(But *phenomenally* more capable (!))

So incredibly good.

More technical details about the global phone tracking. Classic ‘old protocols from before people were thinking about security’ and supporting such for backwards compatibility.

How First Wap Tracks Phones Around the World - Lighthouse Reports https://www.lighthousereports.com/methodology/surveillance-secrets-explainer/

Seems like clever advice I’m not sure I would have thought of in an emergency situation:

"If you're ever lost or stranded and your phone battery is low, change your voicemail to a message that gives your approximate location, the time, the date, your situation and instructions to help.

When your phone dies, your voicemail will still work and those calling will be able to help.”

People in villages in Ukraine are hungry and suffering.

Bake for Ukraine continues to bake bread and deliver it to regions where many aid organizations simply won’t go because these villages come under drone attacks and are mined and served by dirt roads.

They could use our support.
We just donated.
Maybe you could?

peace.

Might be time to reread this…

Wish Portland / Oregon would pay attention to this. Such a waste of taxpayer dollars currently being considered to build a massive baseball stadium for a private company.

Anyone want a pair of rock-n-roll stage pants a friend at college in the ‘80s made me out of a flag?

Waist seems to measure 32-34” (has a drawstring) and inseam is about 30”. For a fairly slender build.

Watched the time change on my Apple Watch analog face last night and it was interesting to see the second hand ticking around the last minute before 2am notice that the hour hand didn’t jump from 2 to 3 until about 6-7 seconds after the 0 seconds point.

Anyone watch the digital and notice a similar or different delay?

This is why the OR legislature putting forth a bill to divert money allocated to biking and walking infrastructure due to ODOT budget shortfalls caused by legislative disfunction is so annoying. Better biking infrastructure works to increase bicycle riding/commuting !

See: https://bikeportland.org/2026/03/02/bill-seeks-to-cut-25-million-from-safe-routes-and-bike-path-program-to-balance-odot-budget-399441

And consider contacting your OR state legislators to let them know you aren’t happy about this (!).

TIL that the California PUC really dialed back the utility of Net Metering in 2023 when they approved NEM 3.0

(Based on:

I’ve heard that Oregon is considering doing something similar and I’m going to have to become more aware and help organize push-back because this seems like a load of baloney.

Californians should get their legislators to push back on this industry boondoggle.

Anyone have an iPhone 13 Mini with iOS 18 newer than 18.6.2?

Especially curious if anyone is being offered the option to upgrade to something newer in iOS 18 series while on iOS 18.6.2 or later.

My wife’s iPhone 13 Mini refuses to offer her anything newer in the 18.x series and only offers 26.x :-/

Even when plugged into her mac to try to update there.

iPad Pro 12.9” (2nd gen) doesn’t seem to have any upgrades for the recent security patches?

Mine shows 17.7.10 which is the last update on the security updates page at https://support.apple.com/en-us/100100

It’s from Aug 20 2025 seems to be the most recent iPadOS listed there.

Odd since *much* older devices and iOS versions are getting patches. Somehow this one is left out. (1/2)
