Married to a brown woman, but the backdrop behind him is almost all white, young, able-bodied, thin women. Uh huh. Yeah. Tell us how much you actually love your wife, you couchfucking pressure sore of a human.

Jeez. Now I feel bad. I’ve been working on a project with some new people, and I’ve never used Github before. I’m still learning the etiquette. I made a branch, and spent a month viciously hunting every bug I could find. I don’t trust AI, so I was doing it all by hand. Dawn to dusk, I was staring at code and typing like I had a fever and the only cure was figuring out where tf that invalid scope is supposed to go. This is my first real project with other people, so of course I’m so proud when I send the PR and it has 40,000 lines added and 60,000 lines removed. It was almost all bug fixes, the actual new stuff was about 1,000 or so lines. But what should I do in the future? I don’t wanna be an asshole, I wanna be helpful.

I’ll try to keep that in mind. What do I do the next time I’m working on a very long branch? The next big project to do on this thing is fixing the myriad localization issues that have been plaguing this project, and that’ll mean pruning maybe thousands of lines. Should I just try to get as much work done in as few commits as possible?

Congrats on being today's lucky one in 10,000 people. ;)

Ea-Nasir is the world's oldest recorded corporate con artist. Shitty business owners getting away with being absolute bastards and getting off on making people angry is a thing older than fucking dirt.

The Great Salt Lake is drying up, exposing an urban center with a population of over a million people to airborne arsenic, selenium, and radioactive elements that would otherwise be locked in the lakebed. Around 30% of the population of Salt Lake County is under the age of 18. Give a shit. Please.

I'd like it better if its entire existence couldn't literally be a prop in a dystopia novel. Ruthlessly exploiting malnourished cows and their calves, watered down to pad profits, jugged in plastic, extorting ungodly amounts of land and water resources, sold by a corporation that has a bigger bottom line than most sovereign nations, sold to the impoverished and brainwashed masses that fuel the very destruction of the only planet we fucking have. That, and it's 2%. Whole milk or no milk, and I will die on that hill.

When I was a kid, I fell asleep on a camping trip after eating way too much candy, and a relative got a picture of me with a humming bird examining my mouth. Literally, "Honk, shoooo, mimimimi..." I was so bummed out that I missed it.

I've been hit by cars before on my bicycle. Six times. You know what it was, every single time? The driver was turning right, and looking for oncoming traffic from the left. I tried to cross, and didn't know they hadn't seen me. Ran over my front tire, or just knocked me over. I'm damn lucky those were all extremely slow speed collisions and they stopped as soon as they heard me scream. But honestly? Fuck cars. I shouldn't have been forced to cross at the sidewalk to begin with. And they should have been looking for pedestrians anyway.

Worst crash I ever had on a bike was during a commute to work. It was winter and it was dark in the morning, and the bridge over the river had gotten icy. I hit my brake and slid, went straight into the retaining wall on the embankment, headfirst over my handlebars. I'm fucking lucky I was wearing my helmet. Ended up putting a decorative bandage over the scuff on the helmet shell where I would have split my head open. It looked gnarly. I got a new helmet first thing as soon as I got my next paycheck. Kept it on a shelf for a while.

Use a Linux LiveUSB. Sometimes it works. They're dead simple to set up, too. Edit: I'd appreciate an explanation for all these downvotes, given that this was literally how I got around the nannyware in high school.

Flag football was meant to replace tackle football. Rather than stopping the ball being based on takedowns, the players wear a belt with flags on their hips. If an opposing player yanks a flag off the belt, that's where the stop is counted. Oh, but nooooo, it's not manly and powerful and warrior-like enough. So it never really got popular outside of high school gym class.

These days? Any writing that doesn't feel sterilized and robotic gives me faith that it was written by a human being. But there are plenty of ways to achieve that without spelling and grammar errors.

Okay, real suggestions. Think about personal values that you and your wife hold dear. Something that you both know will never change, something you want to teach your child as they grow older. Something precious. Think about a hero–real or fictional, famous or personal–who embodies those qualities. Name your kid after that person.

Fun fact: Depression affects many things. Attention span, reaction time, engagement, memory, higher reasoning, spatial awareness… All things that (tangentially or directly) affect perceived intelligence. Pretty damn good chance that we’re all sad because we know damn well just how fucked the world is, and we burned out before we ever got a chance to try. … that said, I’ll totally take that hug. Hugs are great. 🫂

Child emergencies, family emergencies, pet emergencies, personal medical emergencies, household emergencies… I mean, yeah, if shit is happening at home, everyone should have the right to go take care of it, child-related or not. If I were a boss, and someone said, “I need to go home, it’s urgent,” I’d shoo them out the door and reassign their task no matter what the nature of the emergency was. Unless they ‘urgently’ need to stand in line to buy a video game. That isn’t an emergency.

The people committing atrocities against hypothetical, imaginary people would do it to real, actual people for the exact same reasons if they had the same ability and impunity. It’s the same broken empathy response, and it is still disturbing. One is orders of magnitude more significant, for obvious reasons. But I don’t like people who torture computers either. Edit: If you think that I think you’re a bad person because you play Doom sometimes, or deleted the ladder on the swimming pool in Sims 4, relax. You’re not who I’m talking about. I’m talking about sadists. Anyone who would take the time to design and build an experiment like this would probably do the same to mice, or monkeys, or even people. Sadists get their jollies off on the idea of inflicting pain, it’s why they enjoy games that let them make cruel decisions. Not everyone who plays violent video games is a sadist. Assuming that is ridiculous. But every sadist I’ve ever met has had at least one game where their save file could be used as evidence for mens rea in a domestic abuse trial.
