@ElwoodCity@thecanadian.social

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world It was the claim that no one can invest in Greenland EVER without express written permission of the US, that felt like Greenland lost sovereignty. That seemed to go against earlier Danish/Greenlander statements about negotiations. But they've said all along that they are own to negotiating a deal for (added) military presence. I *do* wonder what the actual agreement says, vs the version on Truth (sic) Social.

It took me a bit to latch on to #CoMaps, because the default settings needed me to find and change them.

I opted to "increase size for map labels"
In Navigation, Voice Directions, I turned on "Announce Street Names."

After those changes, it felt much more familiar and easy to adapt to.

Introduction Post!

I'm an Organic Chemistry Prof, living in Alberta. Fatigued by fascism in general, and by the UCP in particular, but I find occasional reprieve in Science Fiction and Fantasy fandom.

I enjoy this weird, leftist social media, with no algorithm or ads.

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world So, I opened this and the auto-play video was talking about Trump escalating *again* with more tariffs and some complete import bans, starting Sept 29. "How dare you treat me the easy I test you!" At this point, I kind of think he should just go all in - 100% tariffs on *all* Canadian products five weeks ahead of the midterms. Outlaw all Canadian imports. Whatever. Give it just enough time to really sink in who they want to vote for before November.

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@ElwoodCity/115997401785984486

It is now May, and I have made it to Rivendell.

The distances the Hobbits travel between landmarks has really surprised me. I felt like it took me forever to get from Bree to Weathertop, and the wounded Frodo had to travel much farther to get help than I had ever imagined.

@fgraver@hcommons.social @MaryAustinBooks@mstdn.social We used to be able to distinguish reality from satire, based solely on how far "out there" something was. The House Resolution to authorize the President of the United States to acquire Greenland and rename it "Red-White-and-Blueland was reality. Satire has to be clearly marked or fact-checked now, because reality can't be trusted to be less insane than satire.

It didn't fit well in my life, but I enjoy the crazy it adds to my feed The weekly watch-a-bad-movie-together and toot about it often has horror and nature attacks vibes, and this week is right on theme for you June plans. Starts at 7:00, if you aren't maxed out already.
