There are a few terms:
- Attention fatigue (due to long exposure)
- Vigilance decrement
- Habituation
But the funniest one is the “autopilot effect” or “cruise control effect”.
Holy fluff, after watching Murderbot for only two episodes I can only say that I love the serie. It looks a bit campy, but honestly, it's a great #SciFi show.
It reminds me of the classic SciFi shows and that is high praise.

Imagine a music festival that gets interrupted so that some unrelated parties can play a demo-game. That would just be as strange and awkward to my sensibilities as interrupting a sport match.
Mind you that this might be my bias talking.

I’m willing to give it a spin. I have written a similar tool in the distant past, so I know a few things I can test (performance was an issue in my tool).
I will add that that I can’t guarantee any type of commitment besides the first two hours due to prior commitment. 😉

Digital facing *and* live play at the table? Like a monitor/tablet facing away from the GM and towards the player?
I would focus on a tool that allows a second display of the content so that I can edit on my screen.
As for the tool itself there are plenty of options. Think Powerpoint or Figma, for the presentation/speaker mode. They allow live edit and you have a preview of what the audience sees.

Alternatively you should enter a code that is will only be displayed in the article as proof you have actually read it carefully. Otherwise I will start drafting my response somewhere else and just copy and paste it after the timer has passed. 🤔😔

I’m in full agreement with you. Software development is more often a social and community effort than a technical one. It’s just that line developers get paid for their technical output and some leaders are unaware of the community that is behind it and powers all of it. 👍

As someone who’s presented quite a bit (as a software developer/trainer, not a GM), I find large slide decks distracting. They can easily pull attention away, especially if the session takes an unexpected turn. When that happens, I usually take a break to tweak the slides or “blacken” the screen to refocus everyone.
In my opinion, presenting should always be possible without the use of “tools.” However, I’m not sure if that advice applies to GMs.

After taking a quick break I think that the absurd idea that I have can only be tested in production.
The basic idea is a screen saver for a #productivity app.

The first screenshot is of a two dimensional map that is useful in creating and understanding the relations between the various tasks. This helps identifying gaps and make it easy to organize the order of work.
The second screenshot is a list of tasks which most project management tools show, you might even think of it as the first column in a kanban board, but thanks to the relations created in the two dimensional map, we have tasks that can be started with at the top.

As tasks are completed the blocked items will move up to the starter area.
Now imagine a planning of 480 hours (2 week sprint with 6 team members) in which you don't have the ability to visualize all the different tasks and relations. Planning becomes easy when you can quickly organize the steps.

We are used to those. The best way of being annoying is to show you made an effort yet still be wrong. Such as pointing to Germany/Belgium (if your an American) or by congratulating Ajax for becoming the champion when it’s PSV. Or using “Holland” when you mean the Netherlands (although most people are used to that it one already).

Something like https://revealjs.com/overview/ springs to my mind.
But… I don’t think that is the tool you are looking for since that is an overview of slides and you are now describing media.
At this point I think a personal knowledge management system such as https://obsidian.md/ is a better fit. It also has plugins for presentations and initiative tracker.

Finally done with the next feature for #todo2d, still need to prepare the release, but either tonight or tomorrow morning I can finally break the dry spell.
I need to update some infrastructure on the server before I release the new version. I was almost done. So close, yet far away.
Almost done with the time-tracker and time-entry. The only thing left is some visual design improvements.
One cool feature is that it you can edit entries but still review them before they were changed.
