A year or two ago, I was having a wee and was thinking about how women dry with TP and us men are just degenerates that shake it around. I jokingly thought about creating a “wankerchief” that guys could keep around and calling it a “Peter Patter”. It definitely made me giggle far too much. It’s a disgusting premise to carry around a piss covered rag, but the names I thought were on point.

The first failure was allowing his kid to have a YT channel at all, or at least not one that is heavily monitored and restricted by him or the other parent. The financial fuck up is the consequences of poor parenting.

If I’m forced into Claude Code or something similar, I will be looking for a new job. Ideally a different role in my company to keep my benefits and not have to completely start over, but if I have to jump ship, I will. Fortunately, our security and GRC teams have explicitly blocked Claude Code for the time being. I still have the tools built into Visual Studio, but I seldomly use them, and when I do it’s basically as stack overflow, and that only when I can’t find what I’m looking for through web searches first. We had someone from our Networking team come over the other day and say that he could tell our summer interns were gone because our AI usage dropped by over $1000 / month.

I hope for my next vehicle to be an EV, but I won’t take anything less that 300 miles range. I know that 90% of my driving can be comfortably done in under 200 range, but I do go on longer trips. I know that recharging has come a long way, and I have no problem hanging out for 15+ min at a station, but I won’t do it every 2-3 hours because that’s all I’ve got. I’m hoping to get many more years out of my current ride before it dies or becomes too costly to repair vs replace. That gives ample time for battery tech to further improve, and hopefully more and cheaper EVs to the market. I’m not a car snob by any means, but currently the only EV that really piques my interest is the ionic 5 n, but it’s range is just way too low. I’ve been driving a WRX for a little over 6 years now, and love pretty much everything about it. I hope to someday have an EV equivalent of it.

I empathize with your condition, but glasses that record everything and everyone and shares that data with one of the worst companies in the world make it everyone’s problem. I understand how these can be beneficial to you and others in similar situations, but sacrificing everyone else isn’t the right answer. What I would be okay with is if a medical provider created a similar product that doesn’t record but has the ability to do the positive things that Meta glasses do and have them available only to those that get medical approval. I would even be okay if they recorded to a private, secure and encrypted place that is regulated and the data controlled like HIPPA so it couldn’t be sold or used to train LLMs. If this is the only solution, then everyone should have to identify they are wearing a recording device. It would single out people with disabilities, it would be everyone that used them.

Unfortunately, there’s no mechanism to make that happen over night. What we’re seeing with the DSA is the first step in replacing them all. You’ll have a tough time convincing people stuck in there ways to vote more progressive, but the successes that Mamdani is having in NY and potentially other locations will hopefully spread and start to help turn that tide. If people start actually feeling the benefits of progressive policies, some will start changing their views. The primaries have shown that tide is starting to shift. Hopefully we can ride that wave, get through a corrupt midterm, and maybe start to steer the ship in the right direction.

There is, and what you said is defeatism. Your comment leaves no room for success, just acceptance that Trump will be the next president. There absolutely is a risk that the GOP will be successful in there election fuckery, but comments like yours are like propaganda that can lead to apathy whether that’s your intent or not. It’s not a warning, it’s accepting that it’s a foregone conclusion

I am in no way an Apple fan. I think their computers are fine but grossly over priced and their phones are ass. I would say compared to many other big tech companies, the enshittifying isn’t as bad. Those like Google and Microsoft for example. If I had a gun to my head and had to buy a new Windows laptop or Mac and not install Linux, I’m taking the Mac. That’s not a positive review for them, it’s an insult to Microsoft. So take what I said and just assume it means that they are just getting worse faster, not that they good and going to get bad. That ship sailed long ago as you pointed out.

Not sure what you quoted there, but I never said those words. I never said there wasn’t risk. My reply to your initial comment is pointing out that what you said is defeatist. Per my other reply, you can see that I literally said that the GOP could be successful. You’re misquoting me and claiming I’m and absolutist when I never once said anything is certain, and I fact said the opposite.

Got a guide on how to get that done? Have to get millions of people on board to potentially sacrifice everything for a chance of change through revolution. When things like health insurance and being able to afford food are directly tied to employment, which can be taken away at a moments notice, especially if someone is active in a revolution, it’s really tough to get people to go all in. I’m not saying it can’t happen, just that it’s probably not going to unless something truly significant happens that greatly affects the masses. Depending on how the midterms are handled and how much fuckery Republicans can instill, we might see something. I’m not saying bad things haven’t happened, but it hasn’t gotten bad enough for the majority of people yet to throw their lives at a revolution.

I’m thinking more a person that builds furniture, then sells the completed piece. There’s definitely possibility of plan changes part way through when doing custom work, but a solo wood worker either doesn’t have to do custom jobs or can take payment (or partial) up front and not deal with it. I also don’t consider change requests as micromanagement as annoying as they can be. If you work for yourself, the only micromanager is you, and that’s your own fault.

I love Sanderson’s writing style. The way he builds up the characters and environment is unparalleled imo. That and the vastness and variability of his magic systems really keeps everything fresh. There are a couple non Cosmere or at least not intertwined novels that are great too. During the pandemic he wrote 4 books in one year. Absolutely insane. Yumi and the Nightmare painter was maybe my favorite of them, but I’d recommend all of them. I’m gone through his YA work with Janci Patterson, and it’s good, but too juvenile for me. The other authors and books I listed I was chasing Sanderson like work. None of them are quite there but I know that hes praised at least the powder mage series. Another one I forgot to like was Brent Weeks: Lightbringer Saga. I want to say Brent was a student of Brandon’s. The magic system feels like something he would write, but the writing isn’t quite as mature. It was still a good series and worth a read.

I don’t think that’s what’s being said. More like the complexities of the solution are taking a while to understand because it is a complex solution using complex math. Even the smartest people in their fields can’t always look at a solution and at a glance understand everything without truly digesting what they’re seeing.

I would, because I have a conscience, and I’d rather not be rich than be a rich twat. But also, the assumption in your comment is that evil people are guaranteed to be lucky and rich, which isn’t universally true. There a many good people that are lucky and rich and many evil people that are lucky and rich. Bernie Madoff is an evil person that was extremely wealthy and evil and it caught up to him. Trump is evil and wealthy with power. I’d rather be dead than be either of those people. You should be a good person because it’s the right thing to do, not because you expect a reward or wealth.

I love all of the books in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe and it’s definitely my number 1. Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, Warbreaker, Elantris, all of them. I think it’s worth looking into reading order. It doesn’t matter too much in the earlier books, but there are some references that add to the experience. In the latest books, there are things that need to be understood from other books for it all to make sense, particularly between Mistborn and Stormlight. Other series I really enjoy: Robin Hobb: Realm of the Elderlings anthology. Jim Butcher: The Dresden Files. Brian Mcclellan: Powder Mage series. Joe Abercrombie: The First Law series. James Islington: The Licanius trilogy. Robert Jordan: The Wheel of Time. This is what got me into Sanderson since he finished the series Unfinished series: Scott Lynch: Gentleman Bastards. Patrick Rothfuss: The King Killer Chronicles

I really enjoy programming, and i don’t mind all of the planning, mentorship, and working with stakeholders to formulate solutions. But for the past few weeks 90% of the work I’ve been doing had been around deployment, migrating services to new servers, and fucking with azure resources. I haven’t written a line of code for 3+ weeks. That has been draining. Couple that with picking up work items that are poorly written with way to little information on what needs doing and it’s also frustrating as hell. At my company, we have dozens, probably over one hundred different repos that we maintain, and no less than 30 actively worked on projects. It’s bitter sweet in that I get a good mix of work to break up the monotony of working on the same project, but at the cost of not being able to master any of them. I’ve only been in my role for 6-8 months coming from a non programming background, and it’s been tough to learn and keep up with the pace required. Being full stack is nice but shitty at the same time.

Pretty much all of the examples you provided happen to shitty people too, probably at a hiring rate in many cases. The benefit of being a good person on those situations is that at least you can take pride in not being a turd. Take your list, and reverse the logic for each input and see if that would make you feel better. Maintained a crappy attitude, then misfortune strikes. Spent all of my money, inflation happens. Was a jerk, taken advantage of. Was a liar, get hatred. Just a handful of examples.

Again, the math doesn’t care if you’re trans or not. I understand the emotional belief that not voting is somehow justified, but it’s flawed in reality. If you can’t wrap your head around how in the general election, one of two people is going to win, and one is clearly worse than the other, then yea, I do know better than you. It’s ignorance to believe that math and reality care about your feelings. Like I said, the person (and this extends to you) can do whatever they want, but at the end of the day, a protest non vote supports the worse candidate in FPtP. It’s factually provable math. If you think I’m just blowing smoke or being ignorant or whatever, tell me, would you rather have trans people excluded from sports or would you rather have them denied medical coverage and forced into mental institutions? There is no third option, you have to live one of those realities. Tell me how that’s ignorant hubris instead of just making emotionally charged bullshit statements.

Not how that works. Assuming 3 MTF trans athletes took the top three spots, they would also place 3 females at birth as the top 3. In this case, the trans girl took second overall, so she shared second. Nobody got displaced, everyone was able to compete. In the way, a trans athlete would share the same position of the closest competition that they bested and behind anyone else they didn’t.

You clearly don’t understand how math works though. You can do what you want, but a non vote is the second most anti trans decision you can make in the general. On one hand, you have a candidate that is anti trans in sports and on the other you have someone that wants to block hormone therapy, and child care, and wants to send trans people to mental institutions. You decision supports the latter. Like I said, you must really hate trans people.

The way California handled it at women’s state track this past season I think is a fair balance. There was a MTF gal that took second in some race, and she and another each got credit for second place. At least until a better solution comes up, I don’t see why that would be an issue. I can see an argument why that’s not fair to a trans individual for singling them out, but in that same vein there’s an argument about how a MTF may have biological advantages over the competition. If the above can’t be achieved, I think allowing trans in sports is the right call. As someone that was a competitive athlete, I have to admit that I didn’t just jump to this opinion and did have to reason with myself. I was never against it, but still had instinctive doubts. That’s not to defend Newsome at all, he’s a snake. Even if these are is true beliefs, that he doesn’t want to be on that side and perhaps it’s a moral dilemma he knows is wrong, he can absolutely do better than this.
