Kotlin's success has made its support of producing binaries only 3 minor versions back too rigid. I wrote a post about it and I would love your input. https://www.liutikas.net/2026/09/15/Kotlin-Double-Bind.html #kotlin

Kotlin Double Bind

It is a great idea to give your library consumers maximum possible flexibility. In my post about conservative librarian I suggested to keep your Kotlin langu...

This rings very true

We took away psychological safety and then told everyone to be more productive

We took away psychological safety and then told everyone to be more productive

How the modern economy destroyed the one thing that actually makes people do good work — and then had the audacity to expect more.

It is awesome when you find a company really stands behind their word. I bought a PeakDesign backpack in 2016, last week a zipper broke, reached out to them, and they send me a new bag as each bag has a lifetime warranty. That is just awesome! I wish there were more companies like that.

A post on why build.gradle calls don't always go where you expect them to go.

Scope Reap - What are you calling?

Let’s say we have foo/bar/build.gradle file with the following contents:

Replying to
@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange I think it is really difficult to maintain and sustain more than just the latest version of a piece of software, which then in turn leads to fixes shipping together with features. Having had to back port security fixes to an old version of Android I really feel for picking the lowest cost way out.

Replying to
@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange what do you think is a reasonable and sustainable software update model? How many versions behind do you back port fixes to? For how many months/years?
