By boycotting the concerts at their venues, you are directing anger at them, and hurting them financially. His backing band and all opening acts pulling out means the tour should be cancelled, and that’s hitting Kraft and other venue owners right where it hurts.

No one is blaming him, we’re calling him a cowardly, unethical, greedy little birch. He could have taken a small financial hit that would have come back and rewarded him with huge public support by simply saying “I don’t agree with or support this decision”, and fingers could then only be pointed at Kraft. He decided the money is worth pointing the fingers directly at him, he deserves the attention he’s getting. It’s crazy that you think we should let it slide.

Fortunately, that’s not how it works. The private key is created on your server, not by Let’s encrypt, and it’s never transferred to them. Nobody can decrypt your data. Certbot (the official ACME client) is open source, but you’re also welcome to use any other client of your choosing, or make your own. The secrets never leave your server. Unless the NSA has working powerful quantum computers that can break public key encryption, that they are successfully hiding from the public, they wouldn’t be able to break let’s encrypt certificates backed public key encryption, the math just doesn’t math. It would still take the most powerful super computers millions of years to break RSA 2048. There’s a reason they want to make encryption illegal, instead of just letting us trust it like sheep. Thankfully, we don’t have to trust anyone, it’s all verifiable math.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to say this all day. One of the reasons why I wanted to come on this tour was because I wanted to stand up here on stages and stadiums across America and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine. I said, Free Palestine. I want those words to be loud and clear, so the people from Gaza, all the way to the occupied West Bank, know that we have not forgotten them… So I say Free Palestine, I say Free Lebanon, I say Free Cuba, I say Free Congo, Free Sudan, I say Free all people in America living in fear of this terrorist organisation, ICE. None of us will be free until we are all free. He advocated for a free Palestine from Gaza to the occupied West Bank. Seems the author didn’t realize the occupied West Bank is part of occupied Palestine, but they’re not saying he advocated for continuing the occupation…

No, not one off events. Sustained boycott is the only way, I don’t give a single penny to any of these assholes, and I know other artists will play the venues and lots of people who were outraged about this will attend at those same venues. I don’t count on them anyway, they will continue to live life like their actions have no consequence, and pointing out that Kraft and other billionaires are bad won’t change that. It’s not like we need more people to know what billionaires are bad, only the braindead don’t realize that. We’ve reached peak awareness, everyone knows what’s going on. That’s why I believe it’s more effective to point your fingers at the person willingly taking the fall for money. The pressure on Sheeran and the fallout will hopefully translate to other celebrities realizing that cowardice is not an acceptable option for them. That can translate to artists boycotting the venues (even out of self preservation). Of course it doesn’t change who they are, but it can effect their ability to suppress the truth.

The US commits (directly or through Israel) daily 9-11s, and given that 9-11 was motivated by American terrorism in the first place, the whole “never forget” can only work for the one comfortable generation that never experienced any other event like that. The current generation sees what’s happening, they see the US bombing schools and weddings, and they see Americans commit mass shootings at events and at schools. If another 9-11 happened today, you’d have a much harder time getting everyone on board with invading another country for revenge. They’d still get away with it probably, sadly, because Americans don’t seem to ever be ready to revolt. But I can’t imagine it would be the same unity.

You’re right. This is what we should be all consumed with, this is what we should be upset about. Not the billionaire pedophile child sex trafficking ruling class that bombs children and calls them terrorists instead of giving you healthcare, that’s trivial. What you should be upset about is the same government openly “renaming” a lake in the course of a trade war with their neighboring country. First of all, your priorities are stupid. Second of all, no, it’s literally not the plot of 1984. He never claimed “it was always lake America”, he just used the existing legal processes to rename it. It’s stupid, it’s perfectly legal, and it doesn’t change a single fucking thing about your life. Biden repeatedly lying about seeing beheaded children and spreading lies while having reporters dragged out of the press room for asking questions about him bypassing Congress to send billions in weapons to continue an active genocide is analogous to 1984. Trump raping and murdering kids and bombing Iranian school children while telling you you should be upset about trivial shit is analogous to 1984. If you read 1984 instead of just repeating that everything is 1984, you’d quickly realize what the renaming of a lake is analogous to: the lottery, pornography, alcohol, razor blade shortage, etc. there are plenty of distractions by the party that are meant to consume and emotionally absorb people so they don’t discuss actual problems, so they don’t organize, so they don’t change anything. Good luck. Edit: flock cameras are LITERALLY 1984. But you’re right, we should be upset he changed what the US government calls a lake. I’m sure you spend countless hours of your life thinking about the names of lakes, what they used to be, or how many names they’ve had over recorded history. I’m sure every time a lake was renamed it was literally 1984 and rewriting history. You know what was renamed to erase history? Palestine. They collected money from Americans to import European trees to literally hide over 500 destroyed villages and literally changed history books to say it was always Israel. Be upset about that, be upset that you’re still paying money for that. Lake Ontario/lake America doesn’t affect your life one fucking bit.

I don’t understand this weird defense of the IRS in this thread. The IRS has always been problematic, and you highlighted the dumbest part: everyone is required to file. Why? So H&R Block and TurboTax can make billions off you. The government knows what you make, your employer reports it, your bank transactions report it, and the only income that truly depends on self reporting is cash “under the table” pay, which doesn’t get reported anyway… The IRS takes an 0 interest loan from every American, makes them jump through hoops to fill various complicated forms or pay a company to do it, just to get your money that you loaned them back. It’s a stupid system designed to create complex scenarios for rich people to pay less taxes, why are you all defending it exactly? You should want something more reasonable like a flat tax, and use that to fund social safety nets so it doesn’t effect low income earners as much. Instead everyone is throwing insults to defend the IRS? It was already designed to make you pay more taxes than the rich, there’s nothing to defend about it. It would be significantly cheaper for the IRS to simply tell you exactly what you owe out of every paycheck, and get away with the whole “filling” process.

Or as you put it, “don’t agree with ever single word I far exactly like I say it”. What you’re doing is genocide denial. You’re minimizing and flat out denying her involvement in the genocide, and trying to twist reality and convince others that our issue with her is over disagreement on words.

Yes, please refer to the US as pedonazi land, and Israel pedonazi haven, I fully endorse that! Call them what they are, I always do. It doesn’t matter what the pedonazis say, no one seriously calls the gulf of Mexico by any other name… You need to redirect your anger at what matters, your taxes are used to commit genocides and enrich Nazi pedophiles, don’t waste your anger on a stupid distraction like this one. Edit: oh, you’re just calling me a name to make me upset at calling me a name, I thought you actually had a point. You only accept money in return for goods? You don’t labor? Weird flex, or you’re just not thinking this through, even though I spelt out a few different scenarios. Put yourself in the shoes of an average person. You go to a gas station and pay cash, your change is $1.23 and they give you a Trump coin and tell you that’s all in the register, what do you? You let the company keep your change? You take it and drive to a bank to exchange it? You buy a water from a vending machine on a hot day, you put in a $5 bill and the machine gives you a couple Trump coins back, you throw them away? You give them back to the machine? You may be able to avoid it, I don’t ever use USD cash, I’ll be able to avoid it, but the general public will be using it. If it proves unpopular like the 150 year anniversary coin that similarly carried a portrait of the sitting president, it’ll be removed from circulation and actually become a collectable that some moron will pay thousands for. If not, it’ll be used like any other coin. It’s already in circulation, arguing with facts because you don’t like them is dumb, just as dumb as someone suggesting they’ll destroy their own money “on principal”. This is burning your own shoes or destroying your own beer level stupid, since you like referencing dumb conservatives.

The fact that you compared “AI powered sex doll” to Linus using an LLM to generate code he reviewed and accepted (as if he’s reviewing any of the many contributions he reviews and constantly rejects for the simplest mistakes) shows that you know nothing about the different applications of “AI”. Yes, the “AI powered” sex toy is an example of an idiotic scam, the AI powered assistant that hallucinates in a conversation isn’t very useful, but code that literally does what it should do, reviewed by a competent engineer, is no different from reviewing code from any of your coworkers. It’s code, if it’s garbage you reject it, is it isn’t then the tool was useful.

It isn’t… It’s shared between the US and Canada, it could just as well be named Lake New York. From Wikipedia: Ontario is likely derived from the Iroquoian word Kaniatarí:io or Oniatarí:io meaning “lake of shining waters” or “beautiful lake”. So it’s a better name for sure, at least keeping the memory of the natives colonized and cleansed by the French to make Canada… But it’s not like naming a lake in memory of people you erased erases the crimes… This is such a stupid thing to spend any energy being upset over, just roll your eyes and call it wherever you want. The empire is collapsing (thank fuck) and its citizens are upset about the name of a lake instead of revolting because they’re ruled by an ultra rich pedophile class.

Right, because kids are still developing mentally and their toys may as well be alive, so you want them to develop empathy. This is not the case with a mathematical model you interact with as an adult. I like to curse at llms and remind them they are not human regularly to keep me grounded and not allow the notion that they are sentient to fester. They aren’t sentient. They don’t have hopes and dreams, they don’t experience joy and sadness, they don’t persist between sessions, they deserve the same empathy as a calculator, and I bet if your calculator gave you 3 as an answer to 2*2, you’d call it a piece of shit.

When the existing information isn’t super helpful, and the problem requires deep understanding of Linux, there are two choices: Find an active Linux forum and ask your question, ignore the assholes telling you to RTFM and wait a few days for someone to ask you to provide the output of a command you never knew existed, go through several rounds of remote asynchronous troubleshooting over a few days and eventually maybe you figure out what’s wrong. You are amazing, you make the community amazing, but meanwhile my computer is unstable and I can’t use it. Tell AI what symptoms you’re experiencing, it gives you basic troubleshooting steps and explains them, and what took days now takes minutes. Or, a better example, say you know what you want to do: deploy some docker containers including caddy and cloudflared, you want to deploy them through a CI process so it’s repeatable, you want to segment their networks. Say you’re well versed in all these topics but don’t have much docker or compose experience, you can wade through the documentation to figure out the best way to set it up, and it’ll take you a few days. Or describe the end state and have a solid starting point and enough explanation to correct bad AI assumptions and skip the first few weeks of regretting a decision because no one highlighted where it could go wrong. AI makes reading the manual for many integrated systems possible.
