@flwwhtrbt@mastodon.social So... does that mean you might have some recommendations? :) I need to find some new stuff to watch and I'm drawing a blank. Haven't watched any anime in ages. I'd love to get any suggestions from people.

Have you watched Summer Wars? I've probably recommended this one to you before (I seem to recommend it a 𝘭𝘰𝘵)
It is a bit later, from 2009, but up there my my top 3 anime films of all time. Drop what you're doing and watch it if not!
Or what about Psycho-Pass? If you like the darker cyberpunk-esque vibes, then Psycho-Pass season one is absolute magic!
Ergo Proxy if you like a dark future, Serial Experiments Lain if you want to see where The Matrix came from

@flwwhtrbt@mastodon.social Ooh, thanks. I recognise the character on the Ergo Proxy cover and have heard the name Serial Experiments Lain many many years ago, but all these are new to me. Time to go a-searching. Thank you!

@flwwhtrbt@mastodon.social I did watch Summer Wars the other day, thanks for the tip! It definitely had a certain charm to it. I'm hunting for the other recommendations now.
