  Corporations demanding to be regulated is very normal. it's called regulatory capture. 15 years ago it was Facebook doing it. They know if they demand regulation they can get regulation that does what they want. things like limiting the ability of competitors to enter the market and reduced liability. If there are regulations they have a clear framework on how to avoid lawsuits or complete immunity depending on how regulation goes.
