I noticed that openrsync has had some updates as recently as a few months ago! Check it: https://cvsweb.openbsd.org/src/usr.bin/rsync Or, for the newer kids these days I guess: https://github.com/kristapsdz/openrsync I don't know if I am going to resurrect the effort of submitting it to MacPorts since it appears as if there is still not a tagged release? Nonetheless, https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/28096 might serve as a starting place for others wanting to make such an e...

Kind of annoyed I discovered yesterday from one of the UICC emails that Irish classes started again in late September. Which, is what the instructor had suggested at the conclusion of the last class. Yet I've been reading the UICC emails and only saw the class announcement link in yesterday's after October is almost over? C'est la vie. I registered for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) in December, so maybe better to focus my polyglot nature on 日本語 for the next while...

I submitted a Pull Request to update MacPorts' OpenSSH to 10.6p1 here: https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/35346 GitHub Continuous Integration checks passed OK. It's up to someone else with commit access to merge it. (I am less certain what to do about the sandboxing support removal mentioned by @brynet@bsd.network believe it or not, I kinda despise Apple and macOS; yet I figure down streaming things for others since I am doing it myself is hopefully beneficial? If I am go...

My cynical take on the USA and excessive amounts of incarceration: It is a problem left over by the loop hole left in the 13th Amendment which continues to sanction slavery, for those: "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted." If it takes another Civil War, to close that loop hole? IMHO, the USA will be better for it in the long run; even if more bloodshed occurs. That is: if such a war can be won by those who would close the loop hole. In...

/me looked at OpenVi and failed to get it to build from source; which is a bad sign since "OpenVi: Portable OpenBSD vi for UNIX systems" the portable doesn't seem to mean what I think it means? /me notes: nvi2 was trivial to build from source. /me notes: OpenVi mentions homebrew [yuck] not MacPorts [screams out of touch with other BSDs' insider knowledge]. /me notes: itojun [RIP] also contributed to nvi2! /me wonders: why doesn't OpenBSD, internalize nvi2? ;( Seems as i...
