#JukeboxFridayNight #PlayTime #AlternateFridayMusic #Remix I'm putting both of the Friday music hashtags on this one for the following reasons: "Dear Prudence, greet the brand-new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?" In 1968, the Beatles visited India to study meditation. Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence (the subject of the song "Dear Prudence") were there at the same time. The Esher De...

#JukeboxFridayNight #PlayTime An interesting trivia bit: "When its music video was aired on MTV, it made Musical Youth the first black group to appear on the channel." Playing music is playing in more than one sense. "Give me the music, make me jump and prance.... You play it on the radio And so me say, we a go hear it on the stereo (stereo) And so me know we a go play it on the disco And so me say we a go hear it on the stereo, whoa" Pass The Dutchie - Musical Youth ht...

#JukeboxFridayNight #PlayTime There were a surprising number of remixes of this song on YouTube. I sampled a few and went with reggae. "He said, "Son, I've made a life out of readin' people's faces And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes So if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice".... I'm feeling good. Watched an enjoyable movie (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) this evening and then made my long list for tomorrow's Lifetime Playlist 1979. Interestingly, after thinking about dozens of songs - not actually listening yet, though - the song that's been stuck in my head for a little while is the Bee Gees, Inside & Out. Don't know if it will make it to the final ten, but it's quite sticky. The funny thing is that it doesn't have...

#PeaceAndCalm #JukeboxFridayNight You are somebody that I don't know But you're takin' shots at me like it's Patrón And I'm just like, damn, it's 7 a.m. Say it in the street, that's a knock-out But you say it in a Tweet, that's a cop-out And I'm just like, "Hey, are you okay?" And I ain't tryna mess with your self-expression But I've learned a lesson that stressin' and obsessin' 'bout somebody else is no fun And snakes and ston...

3BadThings Can I kvetch about 3 bad things? How bout one annoying thing? No? We don't do that here? 3 ̷B̷a̷d̷Things #3GoodThings Okay, I'll be good. I'll feel better this way - if I can think of any good things, that is. 1. This is sort of backhanded, but it's a good thing that I didn't lose water or internet today. Google Fiber is laying cable in my neighborhood, and today they cut a water main, gas line, and internet cable. The affected people were 😡. Luckily, I escaped, at...

#PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight I thought I was done for the night, but YouTube reminded me that Donald Fagen plays beautiful piano. He often calls in session musicians for various parts, though, including piano. The credits on the album say Fagen is playing piano on this song. #PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight Okay, here's Elton again with that wonderful, lively piano outro beginning at 4:50. I considered linking to the live version of this song (on the album17-11-70) where he improvises on piano for 16 min or something like that. But I like this studio version. (I have no idea if anyone else is linking to these songs....) Burn Down the Mission - Elton John https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=OS2QZvisrkM

#PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight My first thought was the Elton John album "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player." But I needed to find a song, not an album, and this is the best I found so far. I'm just looking at EJ albums that I owned and am very familiar with. "It's hard to write a song with bitter fingers So much to prove, so few to tell you why Those old die-hards in Denmark Street start laughing At the keyboard player's hollow haunted eyes"...

#AlternateFridayMusic #vitriol This is a very loose association. I was thinking vitriolic ➡️ angry / mean / cruel. Then, looking around, I saw "Cruella de Vil" and decided the "Vil" could be short for "vitriol." Okay, whatever. Take it however you want. :) Cruella De Ville - The Replacements https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=5wrybBZsDx0

#AlternateFridayMusic Sept 25 2026 The prompt is #bleak Oh Lordy. The prompt for the Thursday game today was melancholy ... and now we've got bleak. Here's my first stab at it. Maybe all is not completely bleak. Look around Leaves are brown And the sky Is a hazy shade of winter Hang on to your hopes, my friend That's an easy thing to say But if your hopes should pass away Simply pretend That you can build them again Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles https://music.youtube.com...
