#AlternateFridayMusic #Remix
I'm putting both of the Friday music hashtags on this one for the following reasons:
"Dear Prudence, greet the brand-new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?"
In 1968, the Beatles visited India to study meditation. Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence (the subject of the song "Dear Prudence") were there at the same time.
The Esher Demos are recordings made at George Harrison’s bungalow at Kinfauns, Esher, in 1968 after the band's return from India. The majority of the recordings appeared at least partially on the White Album.
In November 2018, after the 50th anniversary of the album’s release, an expanded reissue was released with new stereo remixes, outtakes and the original Esher demo recordings.
In this demo of "Dear Prudence," there is a spoken addition at the end, in what sounds like John's voice:
"She was struck by an illness in the middle of her meditation course in Rishikesh, India. No one was to know that s-s-sooner or later, she was to go completely berserk under the care of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. All the people around were very worried about the girl because she was going insane, so we sang to her. Thank you"
