Getting irrationally annoyed that the zodiac images are a) taking up so much real estate and b) not in order #timescolonist

DYK that "changing the system from within" is a concept created by the system to keep you in it so that it can study your tactics?

One unexpected benefit of no longer listening to the radio (I used to have CBC R1 on all the time) is that I haven't heard the expression "tinder dry" all year. To someone like me who has a visceral reaction to repetition, this is such a relief. Also: tinder, like pretty much anything else, can be wet. It just won't work as well.

Carbon capture at scale is a fairytale for babies who don't want to change their consumption habits. Technology isn't going to save us, and technology that doesn't exist will save us even less

I'm reading this thread on another site about the state of the world and tariffs and all that, and they're deep into the moral and ethical implications of Nintendo not reimbursing, and the cost of gaming going forward, and it struck me that none of the participants can imagine a world where gaming is... optional. And I might be old enough to remember life BVG (Before Video Games), which makes me old, yeah, but disturbingly i'm also likely in the minority

I propose a hefty fine for grocery stores that display vanilla yogurt right next to plain. That, or make the owners eat a nice big plate of vanilla curry chicken

I didn't want to announce my latest habit dropped, since I thought I might not be able to pull it off. But two weeks in, I'm not missing caffeine. I'm not being hyper strict about it, chocolate is still on the menu, but not having those two double lattes in the morning has resulted in... not much actually. Maybe a little more easygoing, but hard to tell at this time of year when everything is in a constant state of packing/unpacking

If an Airtag can be hidden in a rare book to track it to the book-destroying facility, other things could be too. Explosives, tungsten rods, capsules of strong acid...

Imagine a game where one person holds all the cards. Can anyone else be called a player? Or is it just one lonely, pathetic person pretending to be relevant while more and more people come to the realization that the only reason a card has value is because everyone agrees it has value? We can make better cards anyway. Solar cards, wind cards, education and health cards, food and shelter cards, justice, fairness, and restitution cards.
