Is anybody archiving the stupidest AI ads and promotion content? I worry that after this bubble blows up this kind of stuff, especially the super confident marketing, will start to disappear. We owe it to future generations wanting to make fun of techbros to make sure the stupidity is properly archived I think.

Top U.S. general says AI will change how America fights its wars The wording follows a Sept. 29 executive order that directs the executive branch, to the extent the law allows, to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI.” The order does not create a new category of technology. It defines super intelligence as the same systems already covered by the statutory definition of artificial intelligence in federal law, so when Caine says SI, he is describing the...

I think for a nice flourish add that every time your boss answers a question you turn on all the electrical devices in the building for an hour and jack the heat/cold up all the way. It should help your boss adjust to the new experience of having a human programming employee without it being too shocking and new.

Oracle wants to bill you for every AI task, not just every seat Oracle is funding a datacenter spending spree with negative cashflow and borrowing. OCI is set to host large language model builders, notably OpenAI, alongside its own customers’ workloads. Oracle spent $55.7 billion on datacenters and cloud infrastructure in fiscal year 2026, which ended in May, and plans to spend between $90 billion and $95 billion in fiscal 2027. That will require more debt. In 2027, Oracle hopes to raise a...

AI-Enhanced Terrorism Already Showing Up in Nigeria “This AI use is institutionalized through specialized units and internal training,” said Antonia Juelich, a technology and terrorism researcher at Cambridge University who authored the study. “It has aided in attack planning, weapons troubleshooting, and the design of explosive devices, as users have successfully circumvented some safeguards.” Explosively bad tech takes… Can you imagine a worse idea than designing a bomb as somebody witho...

GDLS to bring natural language control to Abrams tanks and next-generation combat vehicles Imagine if I pitched competitive rocket league players on an idea to give competitive edge by developing voice activated control so they can say things like “air dribble” or “wavedash” and the AI will help control the rocket car for the players to offload some work… then imaginr if instead of a silly video game we were talking about a ~70 ton cannon? If you watch the way the crews of these vehicles oper...

Folk Theories of Federated Moderation: How Users Make Sense of Cross-Instance Action on Mastodon and Bluesky Federated social platforms like Mastodon and Bluesky are growing alternatives to centralized social media. Their moderation actions cross servers, lists and labelers in ways users cannot easily see. When something visibly changes, users turn to public forums like Reddit to ask why. We read these discussions as folk theories of federated moderation: accounts users build from observation a...

Reddit's r/opensource bans AI slop, and quite a few humans for good measure cross-posted from: lemmy.ca/post/72942555 Meanwhile on reddit. Honestly kind of sounds like lemmy.world mods tho… To get a project featured on the subreddit, developers now need to show it has been actively maintained for at least a year, has an established community, and has at least three contributors, give or take. Student projects such as note-taking apps and PDF viewers aren’t welcome either, and devel...

Microslop Says Its New AI Is Better at Diagnosing Patients Than Real Doctors The tests were conducted in a controlled benchmark setting, meaning its usefulness in a true medical environment is up for debate. Still, Microsoft was eager to declare victory. … But the study could only imperfectly simulate the back and forth a doctor has with a patient by having DxO talk to a “gatekeeper agent” that “mediates all information requests drawing from the underlying case record.” Put another way, i...

"We copied a summary of the article instead of the full text" - hostile UI design blocking quoting of an article On mobile if I try to copy a paragraph or two to my web browser clipboard it literally won’t. I assume this is because of AI scraping or whatever but this has got to be the most insulting, condescending UI design I have encountered in a long time. Nobel-Winning Computer Scientist Says AI Has Become Conscious: "We're Toast" In an interview with The Telegraph, the famed British computer scientist insisted that AI has become conscious, and said that humankind must befriend it — “or else we are toast.” Yes, you read that right: he thinks that today’s AI models are already conscious beings. “AI has just as much subjective experience as we do,” Hinton said in the interview. “A recent paper showed AI changes its behavior when...
