Everything is increasingly awful. But I&#39;m doing informal (anonymous) midterm evals in my classes, and one student ended theirs with, &quot;Your care for students and literature radiates and is infectious!&quot; and honestly I think I just felt my heart heal a tiny bit.

I can&#39;t send a student information about their progress in my class writing from, or writing to, any other email address than those provided by our institution - it would be a violation of federal law. I&#39;d be subject to legal penalties. I take a training every few years to remind me of this. So ... I guess I&#39;m curious why my students&#39; number of unexcused absences is treated with more care than the military plans of the US government, and, you know, about that lega...

The grim, terrible joke about all of this is that none of it - not the cruelty, the bigotry, the lies, the festivals of violence and exclusion, the money, the guns - none of it will save them from the climate collapse they are speeding us toward. It will get them as well; Mars will not save them.

I do not think I have misophonia, but also the sound of my dog licking her legs and paws is absolutely intolerable to me, for no reason at all.
