I can't send a student information about their progress in my class writing from, or writing to, any other email address than those provided by our institution - it would be a violation of federal law. I'd be subject to legal penalties. I take a training every few years to remind me of this. So ... I guess I'm curious why my students' number of unexcused absences is treated with more care than the military plans of the US government, and, you know, about that legal penalties thing.
