I just had to listen our CISO giving a speech about how we should fight AI threats with AI. Why? Why is this so self-explanatory? What threats? No one ever goes into details. Or if they do it's fucking phishing or bloody Huggingface. This is so fucking stupid on so many levels. I'm sick of this AI psychosis. Let the bubble burst already.

@cR0w Man I hate the corpo bullshit so much. As a cyber security professional my work is all about begging for the basics, fighting bushfire with a bucket of water, while my CISO is hallucinating AI powered scrip kiddies jacked to a nation state level. The local water treatment plant runs on Windows XP, has an internet-facing admin portal with default credentials. You don't need AGI to get fucked. Footnote: so far the all the agentic felony hacking were committed by the frontier labs....

I've got an old MacBook at work for temporary use until my new one arrives. This is my first time using the TouchBar and I do think it's better than the normal Fn keys but it's not a must or life-changer at all.

The new Apple HomeView looks nice and all but it really shows that they're are out of new 'revolutionary' ideas. Not to mention that it's waaaay overpriced.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@404mediaco/117445536907060308 Getting more cyberpunk every day. These companies skipped the "cool startup" phase and went straight to the "mass surveiling tech giant". What did they think was going to happen after stealing everyone's intellectual work, scaring to take away their jobs, kill all humanity and planting noisy data centres behind their garden which also raises their bill? No wonder people are trying to burn do...

Cyber sec and digital privacy are like doing sports and eating healthy. Everyone knows they should give a shit but no one actually does anything about it, right until the shit hits the fan.

We need to call everything by their name. I can't stand when someone is so keen to balance their opinions. I can picture it very vividly how they're tiptoeing around it. The same amount criticism as praise measured on a pharmaceutical scale. I get it, don't be a hater or booster just for the sake of it. Grow some balls and have an opinion! If something is bad it's bad, if something is good it's good. And stand by it, support it with strong evidence. It's really not hard.

I think many people confuse financial success with being smart. Well while it is often true on the low level (building out a small to middle business out of nothing), on a higher level where people are entirely detached from the underlying business it's completely false. They just have expandable money to get lucky with. That's it.

The most common misunderstanding I see in privacy focused forums and videos is the mix-up of security, privacy and misunderstanding of open-source in general. Also threat modeling mistakes. I see some people take extreme measures in one way but negating it in another. To resolve this I'm working on an explanatory guide to security and privacy as well as a general "privacy and security recommendation for dummies".

We spend more of our lives online than in the real world.

Why digital privacy matters more than most people think. During communism in Europe people were surveilled. Their letters were opened, their activities monitored but this surveillance didn't invade the private space. This has changed with the digital age. Most of our communication moved to the online space. Even your private conversations mostly happening online. I reckon most people don't realise how much of their communication is digital. It's easy to neglect the online surveill...

My tinfoil hat theory is that the only people love AI are whose work was already unnecessary or slop.

Nothing illustrates better the bubbleness of the AI bubble then the rapid new&newer hype-subjects popping up completely randomly. It's hard to follow. Now it's Kimi and the open source models. But we've seen: GPT5.0, DeepSeek, Mythos, (wide)OpenClaw, Sora, Atlas, Cursor, Claude, Agents. Only Claude and the coding harness sticked. The rest is total BS.

I dream of a free internet where we can communicate across the globe without constant surveillance and restrictions. I dream of a software without arbitrary restrictions, walled gardens and vendor lock-in. I dream of ownership where digital and physical properties are owned by the users rather than the corporations. Just imagine that! How nice it would be.

My phone gets really hot when charging or using the GPS. So much so that it melted the adhesive off and the back cover is loose now. I have to keep it in a case to hold it in place.

Luckily there's still innovation in tech and a reason to be excited. We just have to look for it in China.

The reason I hate mig tech now is that they stopped making the best product they could. Now they only make "good enough" products and that "good enough" is lowered to the bare minimum with walled gardens and user lock-in. Very sad to see this decline. I want the glorious 2010s back when tech was fun.
