  I appear to be having another one of those years where all I want to do is either die and get it over with or strangle the nearest person. I will occasionally post bike-stuff and volunteer work along with some kind words, but so far I've been very good at irritating people. He had to be immediately taken to port from the cargo ship he was on and operated on. They were near the middle east coast of Japan, so there were plenty of cities to drop by. This was late 80's Japan, so most of the specialist surgeons were in Tokyo or Yokoha...

  @DoomsdaysCW Many of the stories and predictions for a cleaner future involve "replacing" the old, oil-tied machines and mechanics of the present with more independent energies of what hopefully will be the future, and really should have been the present. I find this notion a bit disheartening, since it implies the old machines can't be remade or modified. Not everything is an Apple product. I prefer "retrofit" to "replacement", but...

  Bioplastic experiments went better than expected, at 50% w/w glycerine to corn starch and 15% citric acid the curing scheme I have yeilds a hard, crumbly plastic on top and a gradient of curing progress underneath. This is expected for such high levels of citric acid and lack of vacuum drying. Next is 10% and 5% CA.

  It's already 92 F in the valleys near Glacier Peak. I have a bad feeling about the fire risk now, there's too many hillbillies with no brains and much oil ready to burn anything they won't dispose of properly. I'm not even going to use the blowtorch unless absolutely necessary. There isn't enough fire extinguishers in the world for a situation like this.
