For #FensterFreitag (and #FenceFriday, I suppose), here is a completely superfluous window between the outside and outside at #PDX.

I'm fine with people bringing emotional support animals into public places, so long as I can tell the dog all my problems.

There is something perverted about creating a private space for rich fucks to hang out obsessing about their blood and then naming it Municipal. https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/16/mark-wahlberg-wants-to-take-on-the-longevity-startup-crowd-with-an-affordable-gym-concept/ #Municipal #MarkWahlberg

Went to #Vancouver Canada this past weekend for the first time. Wow, the city is beautiful, tall and nestled amongst the trees. Unfortunately, the number of homeless people I saw milling about on Hastings St was really so depressing. I thought that I was somewhat inured to such sights after years walking through downtown San Francisco and Portland, but this was a whole new level of human suffering. Dozens and dozens of people. Block after block. Fuck.

Great video by #NicoleRudolph about what is and isn't the same about the social and economic landscape of the 1930s vs today. However, I especially love this part about how just being weird and encouraging others to do the same is an inherent act of resistance against #fascism. https://youtu.be/lJ7Waykxr5s?t=1312&si=3Y_579EdvfF2H9V9

Wow, #texas #republicans must really be worried about the upcoming #election if they are making such a big show of caring about people and being tough on companies. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/10/23/texas-sues-openai-over-product-safety-01134162

Went to #OldPortlandHardware today to replace a crappy non-original knob in our house, I learned that the Bakelite backplates on our doors are actually super rare. The girl working there had never seen one, and they have hundreds and hundreds of vintage door sets.

The #GuardrailGuy is usually quite matter of fact, considering how his daughter was killed by a faulty guardrail, but he got emotional when showing how this truck was speared by a guardrail. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcPz__fpDpR/ #HighwaySafety

I was skeptical of this @TechConnectify video title and that Alec's water heater is cooler than mine, since I installed basically the same make and model of #HeatPump water heater in my house almost 5 years ago. However, his is just using a 120V circuit and isn't taking up two slots in his electrical panel, so I guess he is actually cooler. https://youtu.be/F_7B2shTPPU #TechnologyConnections

This guy's idea of #MonopolyFraming (a continuous thermal barrier between internal and external framing) kinda makes me wish we cut the ends off our house's rafters, though otherwise we are close to this method with the exterior foam insulation we installed. https://youtu.be/YHbzoK-ETN8?si=B19rU_nySOtglm1e #architecture #building

Before and after the mineral wool installation in our attic today. Alas, we had to say goodbye to some of the beautiful 90-year-old wood. #HomeRennovation

Saw a story about a guy who brought back a waterway in eastern Oregon by building dams to capture the infrequent rain, which was very inspiring. I just wish I could find a video to link to that wasn't an #AI regurgitation that might be distorting the facts.

The drywaller has gone a bit extra with masking off the attic. I understand throwing paper on any surfaces adjacent to installation, but the dude put paper over the RAM board that was already protecting the floor. At least he didn't use plastic, or I'd be worried that he is preparing to murder someone. #HomeRennovation
