Rotring Art Pen with black ink and a waterbrush wash, and Diamine Star Bright Glacier with the Teranishi dip glass nib. Spiders are in full swing here, half grown Orb Weavers are spinning their webs everywhere as insects ramp up as does the heat, so I had good hopes of finding something interesting in the garden. This little scene caught my eye. We had rain overnight, and while the spider was no doubt sheltering somewhere, the web was mostly intact and had caught a few rain drops, which at firs...

It's the 16th of Drawtober, and today's prompt is 'candle' What with the fire danger warnings starting to crank up we don't want to be lighting any fires around here, so as it's #Kambarang (you might call it a second spring, or Sprummer) in the #NoongarSeasons calendar the Candlestick Banksias are giving us a show with their bright lemony yellow flower spikes. Also known as Biara by some Nyoongar people. #NoAI #Art #DipPen #DrawingWithoutANet...

@rdm has his birthday today. March 11 he had a cardiac arrest so now he has a resurrection date as well. I am so very thankful he is alive to celebrate this, and hopefully many more birthdays. We kicked off celebrations last night with gf curry puffs, profiteroles and colourful fruit and chocolate hummus and orange almond cake with the rpg-ers. One of our friends gifted him a bottle of finger lime flavoured non alcoholic gin (we're both teetotal but rdm is a serious nonalc mixologist)...

Now the cat's out of the bag about @rdm 's present, here, besides the obvious "Godzilla" and "Boardgame" was what convinced me this might be a good pick. Rob is a serious fan of retro Godzilla flicks. https://boardgamegeek.com/blog/1/blogpost/188552/king-of-tokyo-godzilla-developer-diary I am looking forward to that satisfying deer-scarer 'tok' of taking possession of Tokyo. We will be sure to report on our first play. #God...

Title: Drawtober 17th Moon In The Freeze, Ross MacDonald (the pseudonym for Ken Millar) introduces us to this poem. My dad was a big fan of gumshoe novels, and I read anything I could get my hands on, including the 87th Precinct novels, Travis McGee, Lew Archer and Spencer for Hire, and MacDonald was amongst them. I would have read this poem in my early teens, and it stayed with me up until now, decades later. So when I looked it up I was surprised to find that Jim Steinman had used it in one...

I discovered, way after it was created, the world of Serina. Everyone probably knows about it but if you don't , and want to see a masterpiece of a deep deep dive into speculative evolution, take a look. World gets seeded by various lifeforms from Earth, the only vertebrate being canaries and left to simmer until the end of the planet. Over the lifetime of the planet, creatures evolve, some of them even get stories! Use the side bar to go forward and back in time. I don't kno...

#Drawtober2026 number 18 and the prompt is 'Owl' for me. Hmm, I've already done one of our local owls this #Drawtober - so let's go to another night bird, our big muppet like Tawny Frogmouth, commonly called the Mopoke, but, ha, we covered that with the Boobook earlier, this bird does not make that sound. You might say it goes oom oom oom oom oom oom but it's hard to describe. So let us explore its Nyoongar names shall we? In the Languages Other Than Eng...

SO MUCH FOR THE ALIEN'S WARNING! So unsatisfying except for the rich guy shooting himself accidentally. Now THAT was satisfying. Although the nice alien said her people would help, maybe they meet up with her people and stuff. #Monsterdon #JourneyToTheCenterOfTime

Hi folks, as promised, here's one of my first attempts at the Mosaic stacking using the dwarf 3 telescope. I'm not entirely happy with the way that it has turned out, but as a learning process and to give you a look at how things are going I thought I would let you have a look. I think this could use some reprocessing and I'd like to tinker with it a bit more. Maybe it's one to get some other of my mates with Dwarf3 to do a star party collab with. But as it is - not unattracti...

Anybody who enjoys Murderbot and who thought that the cloak in the Dr Strange movie was far more interesting and a better character than Dr Strange might well be interested in a book I'm reading at the moment. I read a review of Project Hail Mary on Mastodon, and I enjoyed the writing. Lo! The writer said if you enjoyed my writing, please consider my brand new book - The Cloak And Its Wizard. Well, I thought, this sounds like great fun. And it really is! So take a look at @rr4idic@mastod...

I had a good 3 hours to draw this one, so the more relaxed pace shows I think. Back to the Kakimori nib, because, guess what, @rdm bought some ink from Van Diemen's Ink moving sale, which I told him not to do, but he did anyway. Naughty fellow isn't he? It arrived today and this was the one he wanted me to try out. This is Anna's Hummingbird Ink. #FountainPenInk #DipPen #DrawingWithoutANet #NoAI #MerMay #MerMay2026

Mermay the fourth for 2026. This was drawn in various cafes and bars today, between bus trips. I had one pen with me, a Kaweco sport that I thought was loaded with some standard black ink. But it's very shiny and might have some chameleonic properties. So maybe it's one of the Diamines, and if I look at last year's mermay or artober I might be able to work out what it is. The pen was a bit clogged and it's been poor light all the way, and I had the wrong glass...
