I remain astonished that one can pay >£600 for varifocal lenses and they're still rather poor for the simple task of looking at a 14" laptop screen on my lap.

Received an email from Amazon KDP asking me to do a "tax interview" for paying US tax. Logging in reminded me that they're holding any changes to my account hostage until I send them a scan of govt. ID. I'll send ID to the likes of Amazon when hell freezes over. So, I've requested KDP account deletion. The Renaud book is still available via Lulu (who also annoy me) and I haven't had any purchases for a while anyway, so good riddance.

In a meeting with a Miro board to be used for ... something I can't quite work out. Even once I found that switching to vanilla Chrome would fix the horrible lagging, it's not a fun or easy experience.

At a #jazz jam depping on guitar tonight. The drummer complained that I wasn't giving him a strong enough indication of the 1. But, there was a bassist present... I suspect the drummer normally listens to the manouche guitarists playing 4-to-the-bar who couldn't make it on that occasion rather than the bass player. Scandalous!

I don't recall seeing this message on stock Android, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

It seems unusual to play electric guitar at a jam without someone saying it's too loud and someone else that it's too quiet.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@404mediaco/117509377339919227 Fastmail does look rather good, but switching is hard. Anyone know a good alternative to Proton Pass, Drive and VPN?

Looking at https://proton.me/community I see that they've only got one service with a Mastodon presence. Disappointing.

For some reason finding this when I return to my work computer in the morning winds me up. I feel it has "why are you hitting yourself?" vibes.

It appears that the party whose canvasser was displeased that I refused to shake his hand is planning on building "detention centres" (for the rounding up and deportation of foreigners) in regions which have primarily voted for their political opponents. Do they not think this sounds even a little villainous?

There will be some "exemplary improvisations" at this jazz gig, apparently: https://smng.org.uk/event/music-on-mondays-dave-marshall/ The audience will, however, have to listen to some of my improvisations as well.
