@MLE_online I was just thinking about the first time I saw that. Infrared serial port with a cell phone to talk to. Around 1997. Things are much better now.

@theothersimo @SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @alper @tristansnell I can see that working, but we would have to have a standard for local LEO sign off, and as a concession putting cans as title 1 firearms would be nice. That said I don't see pump shotguns or lever rifles as being less effective for a mass shooter.

@alper @theothersimo @SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @tristansnell Germany contended in WWI that the US use of shotguns in clearing trenches was a war crime. I wouldn't call them ineffective.

Once upon a time a man heard voices in his head telling him to take his first child to the top of a mountain and kill it. So, the man proceeded to do so. Upon arriving the voice then told him not to kill his child. So he stopped. And other people were like, "This guy has it going on. We're with him!" And that's basically the origin story as to why the Middle East is farked up still.

@shayman Huh. I hadn't heard of that before but somebody last night offered our 10 year old a potato and she took them up. She ate it while walking around.

@joelle A good place I worked at had us go through and take tests on what we like and don't like to do at work. I (tech) do not like some of the admin tasks. I was blown away that some people actually like that. Things I do terrify them and vice versa. So, yeah, you do the things you like an I do the things I like. We can make that work!

@jwz Drone delivery would make sense for something with a high value to mass ratio. Like, drugs. And that industry has some experience with low level flight and sketchy landing sites.
