Hey @Gargron@mastodon.social maybe you could at least not allow QTs to go into the timeline, until they're approved by OP? You have filled this place with unclickable clickbait at the moment.

Just watched Naomi Klein take Piers Morgan apart. The numbskull's opening gambit is that to use the word fascist is to belittle the victims of "real" fascism, which in his world means something that looks exactly like Hitler. Now Klein has been doing this for a long time. All those years that Morgan was test driving luxury autos on Top Gear and opining on the sound of the door closing and which had the quietest highway ride, she was doing political and social analysis. His rhet...

Set 4 mousetraps last night. Went back out an hour later, already had one. I bet when I go out this morning, all four went off. My exterminator friend has been up here killing pests for 12 years now, and says the mice have never been this bad.

I have always been puzzled a bit by the fact that all the way back to my earliest messing around with Basic, we all reached for X as our first variable. Same when they started teaching us Algebra in school, we always start with x, not a. Apparently this was a convention begun by (or in the time of) Descartes, where you use letters from the start, A, B etc, for known quantities, and letters from the end, like X, for unknowns. And now picture me sitting in a sunny field with Descartes. "Tha...

The up side of #Gardening: at some point, you get a bunch of food that is fleeting in its longevity, but better than any you eat the rest of the year, all things considered. The down side: Sometimes they need to be processed quickly, and sometimes the whole day that it takes to, say, turn a bunch of fresh picked peppers into a bunch of Chiles Rellenos, arrives on the same day that for instance is your first day with a new music tool that you ordered and paid for almost a year ago and is fina...

What are the rest f the Vincent Price movies this month on #Monsterdon again? I'm scrolling down the hashtag and I know The Bat is coming but I just keep reading that over and over, I know the other two are also Vincent movies. Asking because we are either about to watch The Witchfinder General, or pick another movie. Turns out my copy of The Devils is the Italian dub.

I wonder who operates the closest Cannabis retail operation to Steinbach? Is there a shop right at the RM/Town border? Do they need hired security? Who provides it? Mostly, the old black market dealers must be laughing their fucking arses off.

So I'm never going to ask the Fedi for money directly, but we are right out at the edge of our asses and it might soon be time to sell the house, which will only make the problems much worse. So here's a little #GetFediHired toot cause I ain't done that in a while, and I absolutely am available at rates that normal people can afford for small jobs - if I can hustle up 20 more hours/wk of work at my schoolbus wage, we will probably stay afloat until I find a real job again. Mainly, I...

So I dunno exactly how #FediBlock works but @adengolbpd@friendica.world doesn't look to me like it's made of meat. An instance that would allow that to happen is also probably a problem, but that's all I gotta say about that.

Is anyone interested in a livestream of a fresh #FreeBSD install with ZFS boot environment? Cause I'm about to do that, and I have an HDMI capture thingy. Youtube seems to be fine with me going live now, the last time I tried it they said I was not allowed to just do it, I don't remember why, but now I can it seems. In theory we've got 25G fibre but I have no idea how true that is. It's definitely fibre at least. I'm trying to get a better handle on #OBS, particularly, ho...

I am still an OpenSCAD guy, strictly because I've grown so comfortable with its simplicity, but it's been very gratifying to watch @freecad@social.freecad.org grow into a mature and robust app over the last few years. I have a pet theory that 3D apps of all kinds will be the first of the corporate apps to just rot out on the vine because every User and most studios stop using them. I think this is the case, because it is exceedingly difficult to fake your way through 3D, whether you&...

So hey #LinuxMusicians #LinuxAudio The amount of choices for synths these days is overwhelming. I am an old man who is not that interested in many of the new sounds (other than Synthwave and Vaporwave, which pander to my personal nostalgias), but I do want to know, what is the best MiniMoog type monosynth sound available among the Free Software options out there? There seems to be nothing that is way out in front of the pack, that I'm aware of, for that specific sound. I'm thinking...

Someone expressing their ongoing shock that Roe was killed. I remember when I read in the aughts that GOP parties basically controlled all the state politics to speak of, I don't pay close enough attention to have just known that, but I was kind of a USA Politics junkie at the time. Our own politics were chronically boring and not that upheaved, even under Harper. But it radically reshaped my perception of the USA, seeing how incredibly engaged the Christian Right was in running candidat...

My hobby: deciding to do a deep dive on grep instead of an extra ten seconds of pageup/pagedown in order to distract myself from the three major-but-doable-but-never-actually-done-em-before tasks I have assigned myself today. My other hobby: loading up Mastodon to toot about my struggles with focus, after catching myself after only wasting about a minute on the grep deep dive, but here's what I was trying to do: The thing I am grepping for has a number of hits, each of them with a varying...

Hey #Animation I just spotted a headline about "Tokenjacking," in which "bad" actors are stealing people's AI tokens. As we all know, AI compute capacity is also useful for making cartoons to delight children. I think it's incumbent upon anyone who knows how to use #Blender that we form an organization dedicated to stealing people's AI tokens and repurposing them for making Cartoons, in which we also steal Intellectual Property like all the Disney characters....
