Jesus with the retro slop - yes I know you can point your magical coding buddy at an old game and say “make it for that other old computer” but maybe ask why first. And yes, this might sound hypocritical from someone who has 30+ ports of his own game, but I do those manually and it’s a new game Not rehashing someone else’s work (using code stolen from a different group of people)

I've been working on the Vectrex port of Jurl recently, because the Vectrex Mini is coming soon, so I figured it would be a nice addition. It's sort of almost there, probably. I say probably because I no longer own a Vectrex so it's only tested in emulation and it's only just Jurl because of struggles with the hardware.

My new game Herexis is finally out in Early Access on Steam. It's my homage to the old Laser Squad game. It's early access because I have a lot to do still, the campaign mode needs to be added, multiplayer and it needs new graphics and music #IndieDev https://store.steampowered.com/app/5349340/Herexis/

My dream is to one day get enough funds in my Steam account that Valve will stop sending me emails telling me my game hasn't sold enough for me to receive a pay out

Jebus, I released a new game on Steam 30 minutes ago and i've already got "Curators" asking for free keys

Darn, my new Robert Rankin book was supposed to arrive today, but Royal Mail have changed it to next working day

I got really burned out by Jurl and I can see why, I started so many ports because it was always a thrill to see the same mechanics and (largely) the same visuals repeated on different platforms. But each time I forgot about the sheer amount of work it took just to start.

Cue the “whaa, some people shouldn’t be in F1 whaa” commenters, because they have no concept of how #F1 works and just know they like THIS driver but hate THAT driver. I don’t like the drive to survive generation. With that said, the move wasn’t worth it - but drivers don’t have an off button

I've spent the morning working on the Amstrad port of Quantum Hop, seeing as it took off a lot faster than I expected. It was a bit of a quick port from the Speccy version. I redid most of the graphics and sound but it was a little flickery - so i'm working on that https://tonsomo.itch.io/quantum-hop-amstrad-cpc-edition

  • View post

ok, maybe I have two speccy games on the go. I stupidly decided to experiment with something after uploading the new Amstrad Quantum Hop build and it went far faster than I expected

I finally fixed the 3DO signing stuff … now I just need to work out exactly what I changed that worked

Blimey my downloads on my itch account have gone up, not just Quantum Hop, someone even downloaded the Gamate port of Jurl

Talking to someone on the subject and i've just realised that every year for the last five years a new horror show pops up in the retro community. Christ alone knows how next year beats Authoritarian murderer or War profiteer.

A year ago we basically took over my Niece’s education (using actual tutors) because she was forced out of school due to bullying. The school would do nothing, the parent's didn't care and my Niece is not the kind of person to fight back. Yesterday my Niece tried to go shopping and the ringleader found her and got a bunch of girls to harass her until she could hide and call my sister to pick her up.

Received another Neo Geo Pocket Color, one of the best handhelds made. This one was cheap because it was missing the battery panels but I figured I could make those myself - turned out I didn’t need to, a couple of brilliant 3D designers had done it for me - and it works!

We're all believers in free speech, but that doesn't give anyone the right to be a dick. On Mastodon, the fediverse gives us more control to help minimise the effects of people who use free speech to harm and abuse others. If your server admin won't help you, Mastodon gives you tools to move to a server that will. #noxp #SocialForThePeople

Whilst I was joking with Chinny yesterday I actually don’t get anything from YouTube for my videos, nor much of the software I’ve made and none of the OpenSource / OpenHardware projects I’ve released. If you do want to help fund my work there’s my merch store at https://www.camputers.com or buy Gaming In the Obscure from my pinned post

I’ve just noticed that the vanity publisher I use for Gaming in the Obscure has stuck an extra £10 on to the price, looks like I’ll have to find a new publisher
